Shipston already suffers from flooding during heavy rainfall. The land uphill towards the A429 is predominantly clay and
is severely waterlogged during heavy rainfall. This run off very quickly overwhelms the river stour during heavy rainfall.

Shipston is already struggling to cope with the current number of residents. The high school and medical facilities are over subscribed.There is insufficient public transport to larger towns, causing more car use. The one way system struggles to cope with through traffic. The sewerage system is already at capacity.

There is little employment in the town, meaning more vehicles commuting out for work, schooling.
