This area of open countryside in the green belt, including the canal conservation area is a vital amenity for residents of Warwick and Leamington and further afield, for leisure, recreation and the health benefits of exercise. Although not immediately next to Warwick it helps to separate the town from the West Midlands conurbation.
Its present connectivity by road and rail is insufficient for development on this scale and the cost of the necessary infrastructure and the resulting environmental damage make this site unsustainable.
This would result in the permanent loss of valuable farmland, natural habitat and biodiversity.
