This design is for the 2040's - electric cars will be prevalent and more efficient than short infrequent diesel trains. Naïve assessments based on a perception of transport links is not appropriate. It is clear that new settlements are being built not for local employment - so road transport infrastructure is required. Cycle lanes while nice will not suffice to offer transport solutions. the statements are nice but are not realistic to the actual needs driving the new settlement approach.
