During a soil science course at Pershore College, I found that the soil in my area (Bearley to Wilmcote) is primarily heavy clay or Mudstone, a type of Blue Lias (Blue Clay). This soil type, consisting of 40% water, is not sustainable for construction and requires more building materials, increasing costs. Our property, built in 1994, and a conservatory, later demolished, experienced subsidence. Neighbors on Featherbed Lane also face similar issues, leading to higher expenses in building projects. Frequent flooding and a high water table, evidenced by waterlogged meters, are common in our area.
