Rural area with high landscape value enabling mental/physical well being. Current roads unsuitable for large traffic volumes. More/wider roads would degrade natural environment and increase flooding risks. Lack of local amenities e.g., GPs, shops would prompt car use by new residents. Even if public transport links improved motor vehicle usage would not diminish . Damaging environmental effects of roads and vehicles, increased risk of accidents on roads unsuited to large traffic volumes. More street lighting would add to environmental detriment. Disruption while building would have a significant detrimental effect on current residents' quality of life and drive visitors away.
