Long Marston has already undergone extensive research and investigation with approval granted for several thousand houses contingent on a western relief road which logically should join to the A46. The original proposals for the bridge were at a very wide section of the river and sites should be considered further to the west. There is industry already based in the area and with appropriate transport links ready for expansion and it is foreseeable that a proper sustainable community of maybe 8,000 could be achieved but only with a relief road to the A46.
