Large housing developments would impact on transport links, provision of amenities, both medical and social, plus the education sector.
Removal of agricultural land would result in food production issues, wildlife degradation and other environmental determinants.
Utilities provision would need to be seriously upgraded before any settlement development took place.
Increased population would inevitably require greater employment opportunities. This would increase traffic volumes on already busy roads. Access to sites would increase safety hazards.
Green belt land provides open space which benefits physical and mental health. Along with villages like Hockley Heath, it preserves the character and uniqueness of the area.
