This is a valuable agricultural landscape important for biodiversity and providing habitats for protected species, particular birds. This type of open landscape cannot be replaced by any compensation measures. The landscape structured by hedges and old trees is also extensively used by local residents and visitors. This is also high value farmland which should be protected for UK food security. Instead of destroying this landscape by housing, it should be developed in an agroecological way with more trees and regenerative organic farming practices increasing biodiversity.
