Object to the proposed traveller site at Oaklands Farm. The entry and exit of caravans from this site onto the very busy road would be more hazardous than it currently is.

Resident of the "Chase Meadow" estate. Has grave concerns regarding the proposals near the estate. Understands that repeated requests for a meeting between the planning department and local residents have been refused. Requests the Council's Chief Executive meets with local residents to discuss the situation further.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

As a resident of Chase Meadow and business owner has a number of concerns.

Important to note existing traffic problems, particularly pulling out of Chase Meadow onto Hampton Road.

There is a parking issue around the pub (Unicorn) and the shopping complex. Often people use the main road causing a traffic problem with public transport and private vehicles.

A large proportion of the development is unadopted and is lacking in street lighting so certain areas can feel uncomfortable yet there is no reduction in council tax.

Parts of Chase Meadow suffer from flooding so additional development and people will make matters worse and put additional pressure on services.

The area around Chase Meadow has seen significant development in recent years and therefore there are already limited areas of open green space for the public to enjoy.

Need to respond urgently to these points.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

The proposed traveller sites near Chase Meadow:
- will result in a strain on the existing infrastructure
- will cause an additional burden on the local Newburgh Primary School,
- is too close to a residential area contrary to the aims of reducing tension between settled and traveller communities in plan-making and planning decisions.
- would be detrimental to the racecourse and historical aspect of Warwick which are both fundamental to the appeal of the town and surrounding area
- would create a poor visual approach to Warwick and a poor first impression
- is causing anxiety in the area

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

Wish to register objections to the proposed traveller sites in South Warwickshire.

The local infrastructure will not support the proposed site.

It is too close to the new racecourse stable block and will have a negative impact on tourism at both the racecourse and the town centre.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

Need details and factual information about the size, location and type of sites and what factors have been taken into consideration in the selection of sites in the vicinity of Chase Meadow.

Request an urgent public meeting to enable open discussion before any decisions are finalised. Elected representatives have a duty to listen to their electorate as much as they have an obligation to carry out Westminster directives.

Areas of concern include the environmental impact/waste management, the devaluation of nearby properties, the overall management of the site, the visual impact on Warwick town as a tourist centre.

Ymatebydd: MR IAN JENKINS

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

Strong opposition to the traveller sites proposed in south west Warwickshire.

The basis for this objection is:

School Places - understand children from traveller communities will be given a higher priority when allocating school places but schools in the area would be unable to cope with any potential increase given the projected school intakes for 2013 - 2016 and the large extensions to family estates such as Chase Meadow.

GP Access - existing surgery is already stretched so concerned it cannot cope with the additional patients.

Infrastructure - concerned about additional traffic flowing through Chase Meadow estate and the need to police the speed limits on these unadopted roads. An additional turning on Hampton Road so close to an existing turning is a risk to residents' safety.

Aesthetics - having seen traveller sites in the past, they are a serious risk to the tourism economy for Warwick. The proposed Hampton Road and Junction 15 sites are key routes into Warwick and should be preserved. Also, the Hampton Road site will be visible to those attending the races.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

Deeply upset by the proposal. Have had dealings with the travelling community in the past which unfortunately have always ended in under hand activities and lack of respect. When travellers have previously settled in the surrounding area we have found children in our back garden and items stolen from our garden and car.

Very concerned about the impact on property values and ability to sell properties. Did not plan on ever moving house again but this is something that may be a motivating factor. Changing our children's school would cause great heart ache and upset.

Ymatebydd: Mr Vince O'Neill

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

Object to the siting of a travellers' site directly opposite the entrance to Chase Meadow residential estate.

Appreciate the need to offer suitable sites for travellers', but object to this site due to:

Schools - With an expanding community, school places and time spent educating each child will face a challenging few years. Added pressure from a potential travellers' site, could lead to an overall fall in educational standards.

Doctors Surgery - currently it is almost impossible to get a quick appointment at the local surgery but with the new houses currently being built plus a possible traveller's site, things would become untenable and unviable.

Traffic - the private residential estate will become a "cut through" for traffic wanting to reach the Stratford Road and Motorway junctions quickly. Given the number of families living in Chase Meadows this is a major road safety concern. The new houses being built will only compound the issue further.

House Prices - property prices would undoubtedly take a knock based on historical information associated with other travellers' site locations. This would be totally unfair and unnecessary on those who have worked hard and struggled to buy their houses when other more suitable locations are already available.

The location of a traveller's site so close to Warwick town centre would have a detrimental effect on the perception of our market town from both a business and residential point of view. This would be a great pity after the town has survived a few very difficult years since the economic crash in 2008.

Overall, the proposed site is just too close to the existing established communities of both Chase Meadow and Shakespeare Avenue. Could lead to a very volatile and unsettled environment in which to bring up families. Feel there are a number that offer a much better overall balance for all parties involved.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

At present International tourists travelling from both Heathrow and Birmingham airports looking forward visiting Historic Warwick are treated to a beautiful view of the castle and the town as they approach on the A46 . A view of a Caravan travelers site is not in keeping with the image vital to the growth of international tourism in the area.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

This location is part of Warwick Racecourse, and forms a green wedge into Warwick. To the south of Hampton Road and north of the railway Warwick reaches the A46 Bypass but here it does not. Development of this wedge, by a gypsy site or any other development, would undermine the character of the setting of Warwick.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

I object to the proposal for a gypsy site on the land at Budbrooke lodge, racecourse and Hampton road due to the increased amount of traffic to local road networks. The proposed site is close to a residential area which could cause noise and disturbance; and friction/conflict. There will be a strain on existing infrastructure including gp surgeries, schools and public transport. There could be a adverse effect on the town of Warwick which has important historic relevance.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

Dangerous location due to busy main road. Many children around in view of local schools either on foot or cycling. People would not integrate with the local community.
This site would appear to be ideal to add houses to relieving pressure to build on surrounding villages and more particularly to build green belt.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

The site is close to existing residential areas (Chase Meadow development) leading to potential for noise and other nuisance, and not meeting the need to promote peaceful and integrated co-existence with the local community.
It would be clearly visible from Hampton Road (A4189) and also the Warwick Racecourse and town centre giving a poor image of the area to visitors to Warwick and passing traffic, and spoiling what is at present a pleasant greenfield area. Part of the Racecourse would be absorbed by the site leading to a loss of facilities for racing.
