Property backs directly onto Hampton Road and overlooks the site. In winter much of the land is flooded. Will have severe impact on views from the property. The investment and taxes paid for living here do not reflect a Gypsy site in such close proximity.
There is a pedestrian walkway through from the Grove to Hampton Road. Few pedestrians use the walkway but when Gypsies last camped at the stables car park they used this walkway and entered gardens/property demanding food and money. Why should people have to keep their houses and gardens permanently locked up?

Object to the proposed site.
Site would have detrimental visual impact on the Hampton Road, which for many visitors is their first sight of the town.
Local amenities eg doctors surgery, schools are already stretched or at capacity.
The proposed site was designated a flood plain.
Hampton Road is increasingly busy and not an easy road to negotiate due to parked cars and Race Meetings. Any further increase would cause huge difficulties for the inhabitants of Purser Drive.
The residents of Chase Meadows have experienced problems with dogs belonging to the travelling community.
The inhabitants of the site would not wish to coexist by way of integration
A delightful rural landscape would be permanently lost; it would not enhance the economy of the town and would not add anything to the local community.

Object to proposals for Gypsy and Traveller sites, particularly in Chase Meadow area.
Extensive development over the past decade has placed a huge burden on local infrastructure and amenities. Current/future development on Chase Meadow Estate will increase burden on already stretched local schools, doctors, roads and recreational/social facilities. This would be exacerbated by locating Gypsy and Traveller sites nearby.
Major concern for current/future residents is the potential impact of hard standing on the flood plain. Further excavation will increase risk of flooding in the area including the land bordering the proposed location owned by the racecourse. The racecourse provides significant income to the area and businesses and much needed employment opportunities. Loss of a race meeting due to flooding could have negative long-term effects on local residents and the economy.
The views of the Warwick population should be considered seriously so that this historical town remains a wonderful place to live and raise families.

Object to proposed sites close to Chase Meadow.
House prices will fall/houses will become hard to sell as has happened in other areas where traveller sites are located eg 3+ acre plot of land in Pathlow, Stratford upon Avon which has not sold despite reduced price for over two years.
The view into Warwick from Calverdon direction will be negatively affected which could affect tourism.
Local doctors' surgery is very busy and Chase Meadow is expanding. Will it be able to cope with additional families?
Can you confirm how much Council Tax traveller site families will pay and if this will be consistent with other residents?

The site is in conflict with a number with several of the criteria listed in para. 7.3:
It is in an area of flood risk.
The whole of the site is presently in an Area of Restraint and development would significantly harm the open character of the area.

Unlikely peaceful and integrated co-existence will be achieved given close proximity to Chase Meadow Estate which has voiced strong opinion.
Local infrastructure will be unable to support a larger (12 pitch) site.
Land in flood plain. Addition of hardstandings will exacerbate issues.
Potential for business use would be detrimental to Chase Meadow residences - concerns of noise, smoke, pollution of ground water and streams.

Major impact on shops and services.
Danger of non-vaccinated animals close to Racecourse stables risk to thoroughbred horses.

Local services are stretched - schools are full and GP services are heavily subscribed. The proposals would add to this.
The proposed site is prone to flooding and mitigation for this is likely to have knock effects elsewhere.
The proposals will lead to an increase in traffic - for instance along Purser Drive. It is likely that many of the vehicles used by Gypsies and Travellers will be larger vehicles cuasing noise and vibration disturbance.

Previous experiences of gypsy and traveller sites have not been positive - particular problems with theft/burglary.
Locating sites in close proximity to existing houses will not be popular. Sites on the Fosse or the triangle by the M40, may be ok if necessary but do not site them near Warwick. Don't turn Warwick into a horse fair town.
Understand the government is foisting this upon the Council, but think hard and long before making a final choice.

Strongly oppose the plans. Not the infrastructure to accommodate this community. It will put additional burden on local service ie doctors, hospital, education etc especially given the additional housing already proposed. Will add to traffic/congestion and pollution in town centre.
Gypsy traveller community do not conform to working practices that enable a sustainable support to local communities.
500sqm per pitch is ridiculous and out of proportion to the neighbouring developments.
Tourism is a priority measure for the area whereas gypsy sites will be eyesores and create disharmony.

Object to proposed Gypsy/Traveller sites adjacent to Chase Meadow and the Forbes Estate as follows:
Pressure on local schools, Doctors surgeries and amenities. Chase Meadow is a growing estate putting pressure on local primary schools who are already struggling to provide places. Doctors surgery covers Chase Meadow, Forbes estate and surrounding areas.
One of the larger sites (GT11) is proposed across the road from Chase Meadow and the Forbes and it is unacceptable and unfair to place it so close to a heavily populated area. House prices will fall and prospective buyers will be put off. That site is also on a flood plain and given rainfall in recent years is very likely to flood.
The settled community and travellers would not be able to live peacefully together and become integrated, as shown by the reactions at Aylesford School meeting in July. This requirement for locating sites will not be met.

Object in strongest possible terms to the proposed development of permanent traveller sites in the proximity of the Chase Meadow Estate.
This is a quiet, well regarded neighbourhood and the proposed development of traveller sites will be a permanent blight on the community, significantly affecting residents' quality of life.
Infrastructure is not in place to accommodate traveller communities: GPs and schools are at or over capacity and traffic is a problem at peak times. But overriding concern is the impact on the community. It is illogical to locate a traveller site next to a built-up, well-established and respectable residential area.
Would urge councillors to see sense and locate the sites away from established residential areas and avoid the inevitable conflicts, concerns and issues which would otherwise result.

Concerned about proposals for Gypsy and Traveller Sites in and around Warwick. Strongly object in particular to proposed site on Hampton Road.
Recently moved with young family to Warwick Chase estate, extremely close to proposed site. Can already see impact on surrounding roads, Doctors and local facilities from significant development over last few years and large number of people moving into the area. Particularly concerned about schools and how difficult it might be to get my daughter into school due to high number of applicants. Allowing these sites will exacerbate these issues. Local infrastructure will not support one or more of these sites and this appears to be in direct conflict with Council policy.
Site on Hampton Road is extremely close to green belt land and sits within part of the flood plain. Green belt should be protected where possible. Further building work / hard standing likely to exacerbate current issues with the flood plain and put area at further risk and severely impact on local residents.
There is an overriding feeling of strong objection among neighbours and shared widely across the local area.

Site will have a negative impact on Warwick race course which is vitally important to the town, and the local community. It will place increase pressure on local infrastructure eg GP services, schools etc. The new homes being built are already adding to the demand for these services. Site is also far too close to a large housing development and will create tension with a population that has invested in living in a nice area.
There will be an increase in crime if travellers settle in Warwick. Even if there is no difference in crime levels between travellers and the general population, crime is lower than average in the District of Warwick and so crime levels will rise.
Proposals will make a very attractive and pretty town look bad and on how the town will be viewed. This will negatively impact on tourism and the businesses which rely upon it.
If traveller sites are needed they should be remote, to avoid tensions and negatively affecting the quality of life of people. It will cause less stress to the travellers too. Kites Nest Lane site exists and counters the suggestion they need to be near facilities. Not everyone can have everything close by and residents of these sites are travellers by nature.
Local MP opposes this and so Council should listen to the MP. Proposal should be withdrawn immediately, otherwise it will show Council do not care about resident opinions.

There is no capacity at Priorsfield School for extra pupils and accepting Gypsy and Traveller children will reduce places for local children. Families who live near the school and siblings of children at the school should be on equal footing for places.
Pupils leaving and joining classes will be disruptive. It's difficult for a small school to manage fluctuations in pupil numbers. There should be a maximum number of places of traveller places.
Ofsted reports the school 'Needs Improvement' but there is no financial support. Stretching the staff in other ways won't help the school improve, especially if, as is suggested, children from travelling communities are behind national average ability.
If Priorsfield is to be part of the solution it needs to be properly managed and funded otherwise the school will be overwhelmed.

Access will be from the A4189, a very busy road, outside the 30mph zone. This raises road safety issues with vehicles turning into fast moving traffic.
Access is via a farm access road closed and locked by double farm gates. If the site is full, new travellers or family members might turn up and camp/park along the farm access road. Evicting extra travellers will take time and incur costs e.g. legal expenses. There will be litter to clear and the local residents will not be happy.
The views from the A4189 towards Warwick, looking over the racecourse to the town are fabulous but would be ruined. The town benefits from tourism and the town needs to be made more attractive, not less, to encourage visitors especially in difficult economic times.
The grazing of travellers' horses next to the Racecourse stables is unsuitable. Equine Influenza is a highly contagious viral infectious disease of horses and racehorse owners will not want to use the racecourse if non-vaccinated horses live nearby. This will have a serious impact on the racecourse.
The Local Plan should require traveller and gypsy pitches, in the same way as social housing, to be provided by new housing development and mandatory for developers to include provision.
The many objections to this site means it will be difficult to "promote peaceful and integrated co-existence".
It is too close to a high density residential area.
At least GT17 and GT18 have the advantage of having existing services.

The meeting and heated discussion at Aylesford School about the proposed site showed that the criterion that the site should 'promote peaceful and integrated co-existence between the site and the local community' would most definitely not be met.
The local infrastructure is already overloaded following extensive development over the past 10 years (Chase Meadow Estate and Tournament Fields Business Park) eg local schools, surrounding roads, social facilities and doctors would not be able to support Gypsy and Traveller sites.
The development would have a dramatic and adverse impact on how the town is viewed, negatively impacting tourism (including the Racecourse) and wider local economy. The potential risks of diseases being transferred from non-vaccinated animals to thoroughbred race horses would negatively impact on the racecourse, its operations and future investment.

There is a major flood risk at this site so sheer folly to allocate it. Other possible sites do not carry the same danger.
Will have negative impact on racecourse and discourage some racegoers. Understand there serious health risk to racehorses (and pets) as dogs owned by gypsies, are not properly vaccinated or inoculated, thereby discouraging racehorse owners and trainers. Would create a downward spiral, from which the racecourse will find it difficult to recover. Fewer visitors to the racecourse will adversely affect local businesses too.

Objects to GT11 but also the principle of placing sites adjacent to established residential developments on the following grounds:
*No exceptions to planning should be made if a person wants to live in a particular area.
* The lifestyle of gypsy and travellers is not compatible with non gypsies, falling into the category of anti social behaviour.
*Site would create increased stress on local public services including the local doctors surgery.
*Would increase public order situations in local public houses.
*Would increase incidents related to the racecourse. Gypsy attendance in horse racing is documented and it is logical to assume having a site on the perimeter with impact on public order, theft and criminal damage.
*Increased traffic usage onto the Hampton Road.
*.Noise levels at the location would necessitate noise reduction engineering at considerable cost.
*The current estate is exceptional in that it has low crime, active social movement by its residents, for example the building of community centre by community.

Areas around Hampton Lane are prone to flooding
There could be impact on te racecouse livestock
Concerns about the management of the sites in terms of over-subscription and waste management

Concerned about the proposed site for following reasons:
It will result in strain on existing infrastructure which has been sized according to existing and approved developments in this area.
It is too close to an expanding residential area, contrary to the aims of reducing tension between settled and traveller communities in plan-making and planning decisions.
Area is prone to flooding and in autumn 2012 Hampton Road flooded in at least two locations at and near this site.
It would be detrimental to racecourse (which hosts many national events) and the historical aspect of Warwick; both are fundamental to the appeal and economic prosperity of Warwick and surrounding area.
Houses backing onto Hampton Rd already suffer road noise. Concerned that without adequate controls and commitment from district council, there would be an unacceptable increase in noise.

Object to proposed gypsy and traveller sites in SW Warwick.
Infrastructure cannot handle more pressure on roads especially as Chase Meadow development ongoing and not to be completed for several years. Most households have at least one car and further traffic especially on Stratford Road and Hampton Road would create a tremendous burden. Race days already cause traffic and parking problems, especially side streets and verges.
Local schools and Doctors' surgeries already under pressure and more strain would stop them working efficiently.
The site on Hampton road has parts which are on the flood plain and should not be built on.
Warwick is a beautiful historical old town. Its popularity with visitors would be blighted by a traveller site and its implications, thereby affecting local businesses.
Air pollution from increased traffic is already a problem in this area.
Concerned about environmental effects on wildlife, possible pollution problems on Gog Brook, and risk of transferable disease from unvaccinated animals to race horses.
