Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

There will be an increase in traffic joining Southam Road either from Church Lane of Offchurch Lane (i.e. in a short length of Road which is already difficult to join).
School Lane already gets congestion during the school run.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

The volume of traffic leaving this site onto Southam Road is too high.
There are already 5 junctions onto the A425 close to The White Lion which reduces the traffic flow and one is a blind junction. Another 150 cars will cause further congestion and danger.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

-Any development off Church Lane or fields adjacent to St Nicholas would damage the listed setting of the Church and any other listed buildings including the water tower, White Lion, Thatched Cottages etc. The land acts as a natural drainage point for the surrounding areas and housing here would interfere increasing the risk of flooding. Southam Road/School Lane/Church Lane or the junction opposite The White Lion is already extremely busy. This development will increase the risk of an accident as children and villagers regularly use this stretch for schools and ameneties.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

-This is a ridiculous idea. There is no vehicle access onto Southam Road within the village. The traffic is dangerous already and the village has had a pedestrian crossing put in because of this.
-Traffic has increase by 45% in recent years. The developers will be sued for any damage to property and also for car accidents.
-Unless WDC are being forced to choose Site 1, why would you?

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

-The view from Southam Road towards the church and trees along the canal provide part of the aesthetic of Radford Semele. Whilst the fields both side of Church Lane are working fields, they provide a local point of the village similar to a village green. Any development on Site 1 would destroy the focal point of the village.
-The requirement of a ''balancing pond'' in the proposal for Site 1, would indicate drainage problems with the site.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

-Southam Road is already busy at peak times and traffic ignores the 30mph speed restrictions.
-There is a blind corner looking towards the junction of Offchurch Lane. It is impossible to get out of this road onto Southam Road.
-The proposed access point opposite the public house is a danger spot.
-School Lane is extremely narrow and parking by parents collecting/dropping off children makes it is difficult to turn from Southam Road into School Lane.
-Sewage pipes in Radford are too small.
-The church vista would be totally ruined.
-Who would the affordable houses be affordable to?

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

-Would ruin the ''rural village'' image given by the view of the church and fields.
-Vehicular access is dangerous.
-Many vehicles travelling down the hill go above the speed limit and have virtually no time to brake after the blind curve on Southam Road.
-A cyclist sustained serious injuries having been hit by a car (allegedly exceeding the speed limit) here.
-Public Open Space is not required we already have a playing field in the village. It is easy to foresee both spaces in front of the church gathering litter.
-Would cause problems for schools, doctors, sewage, drainage and traffic.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

-The site is in an attractive rural setting. Development on this scale will transform the location from
-Access and exit to/from Church Lane and school Lane are already difficult and dangerous.
-Exiting from Offchurch Lane is already difficult and dangerous at this blind junction. Hundreds more homes are planned for Southam and the surrounding District. Many of those residents will commute daily through Radford Semele adding further to congestion at this point in the village.
-A pedestrian crossing, traffic lights controlling four traffic flows, plus Offchurch Lane will all concentrate at this point.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

-The traffic issues in will need to be addressed. Even now the Offchurch Lane/A425 junction is dangerous. This gives the ideal opportunity to address this once and for all.
-We oppose further development on School Lane- this road cannot take more traffic and we are keen to keep the Sydenham/Radford ''gap'', so that the village has an identity.
-We support this scheme because it keeps the new homes inside the ''pocket'' of the village and will have them part of the village.
-The village will benefit from a 'balance' of population both sides of the A425.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

Object to Site 1 because:
-The historic/listed buildings in Radford Semele are in the vicinity of this site. This would be detrimental to the whole aspect of the heritage of Radford Semele
-100 new dwellings= 200 extra cars to enter and exit a very busy area. Offchurch Lane is a blind bend and is very close to two other junctions.
-Vehicle access could be more safely organised (especially for emergency vehicles) but certainly for the 200 or so extra cars envisaged by 100 extra dwellings.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

-The impact of a housing estate in the middle of Radford Semele, would take away the identity of the village. The proximity to the listed church and surrounding buildings would destroy the layout of the village, as we know it.
-The increase in traffic again right in the centre of the picturesque village, would cause mayhem.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

-Any attempt to gain access to or exit from the proposed site whether it is by traffic lights at the junction of Church Lane/ School Lane or opposite The White Lion would create unacceptable traffic problems.
-Vehicles travelling along Offchurch Lane from the surrounding roads already have the greatest difficulty in joining the traffic flow along Southam Road- particularly vehicles coming from the east and these are going to increase in number because of developments at Southam and the proposal at Site 1 would make the situation much worse.
-In addition I support points listed on the campaign www. Saveradford.com.

Object to the proposed development as:

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

-The site would have a detrimental effect on views of the Church.
-The view of the Church from the Southam Road is significant and enjoyed by all. This is part of its character as a rural settlement.
-The field in question drains towards the canal and River and there is a risk of polluting the aquifers. With heavy rainfall water runs on the surface of Southam Road into Church Lane.
-Traffic on Southam Road can be heavy, making access from School Lane, Church Lane and Offchurch Lane difficult and dangerous. 100-150 more houses would worsen this.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

-Access points in Church and Offchurch Lane are already difficult and dangerous. With increased traffic from planned development in Southam and the surrounding district, many of those residents will commute daily through the village. This would create unacceptable levels of pollution.
-Traffic management is needed and traffic lights controlling 4 traffic flow plus Offchurch will all concentrate at this point and would be extremely dangerous.
-Such a high density development in a beautiful rural setting will destroy the village forever.
-The diverse wildlife will disappear.
-The Council has a duty to protect the setting and this development is against this.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

-Would increase traffic on Lea Road which is already a difficult junction.
-More children are attending the school from out of the area so at certain times there is already congestion. Currently there is traffic at the Offchurch Lane/Southam Road junction. Traffic on Southam Road denies ease of access for vehicles on Offchurch Lane. More vehicles gaining access to Southam Road at the Church Lane junction would exacerbate this.
-Loss of rural landscape.
-Would cause tremendous traffic problems. Building in Southam would also affect the amount of traffic using the Southam Road into Leamington. A by-pass is needed.
