The principle of seeking to meet the full range of diverse housing needs is supported, however it must be recognised that in order to do so, the Plan must be predicated on meeting an appropriate level of housing to meet both the needs of the Plan area, but also unmet housing needs from other authorities where it has been concluded that this is necessary. It is understood that the SHMA is to be completed in 2025, which will inform the data for affordable and specialist housing requirements. However, it will be important for the strategic approach to addressing housing needs is informed by a complete evidence base that adequately identifies housing requirements to meet specific needs.
The emerging Plan should also recognise the spatial aspect of housing challenges, and consider that meeting the needs of all the communities, includes providing housing across the Plan area.

In order to meet the needs of communities, it is necessary to understand their demographics. Currently, 25% of the population of the Stratford District is aged 65 or over. To determine the types of homes required, information is needed on how the population is expected to change between now and 2050. This has a bearing on the size of homes required, appropriate space standards, and the availability of accessible properties for the elderly and disabled. To date, developers are failing to provide affordable housing for those on medium to low incomes, and this needs to be rectified in any new developments.

The Bevan Family Homes are happy with the strong emphasis that the Council have put on the need for The Bevan Family Homes appreciates the Council's strong focus on the necessity for housing outlined in the chapter. The demand for new homes continues to rise, and The Bevan Family Homes asserts that addressing this need should be a primary consideration in the South Warwickshire Local Plan (SWLP) and its growth objectives throughout the planning period. The site located South of Westwood Heath Road offers a significant development opportunity to contribute to the housing requirements of South Warwickshire and surrounding communities.
