But more emphasis needs to be on asking developers to work with other stakeholders to ensure that they respect the environment and more emphasis needs to be given to green spaces, etc within new builds,

In theory, yes of course I would be pro designs which take into account designing sites with greenery and eco policies in mind.
I asked one of your planning representatives at the Southam site what measures would be taken to lessen the burden of the “eyesore” of a major new house building site on a green field area, and he wasn’t able to answer. One would hope that trees and greenery would be integral to any such site amidst and surrounding the buildings. Trees in particular would be of benefit to residents and of course to wild life.

I don't remember seeing hedgerows mentioned specifically but the loss of these has drastically changed the landscape and led to loss of wildlife. Policies to encourage planting more would be hugely beneficial .

Households in SUA have grown from 12K in 2011 to 29k in 2025. In that time, not one new park has been created; green belt land has been built on; and no consideration has been made for the mental wellbeing of small market town residents that live here for a reason. Nothing in this plan suggests any new developments will be any better. This is an exercise in appeasing a new government with zero evidence that the ongoing obliteration of our countryside is required at all.

I would like to see -- throughout the SWLP - priority given to climate/environmental-related adaptation and mitigation. It is the last item on Strategic Policy direction 25 and so appears somewhat as an afterthought.

They are entirely aspirational and the reality of mass development and solar panels across the area will ensure the proposals cannot be achieved.

The chapter’s aims to promote high-quality and sustainable design within South Warwickshire are broadly supported. The inclusion of a wide range of design codes is welcomed, but greater clarity is needed in some areas to ensure consistency in determinations.

In reality the concept of a 20 minute neighbourhood does not lend itself to retro-fitting. As existing settlements are allowed to expand with new building, it is unclear how the 20 minute neighbourhood will be enforced through planning.
