The Council may find that a lot of sites with p/p will not be developed or planning permission will lapse because of the credit crunch/recession.
At the present time, developers are not building new homes because of the recession and this has a knock-on effect for the Council's housing completion figures.
We notice that the Council have allowed for a 2.5% slippage of houses not being built or p/p lapsing but because of the credit crunch we feel this is a too conservative estimate. We feel this is more likely to be 10%.

It is questioned why this site has been included in the Preferred Options at all. At a yield of 75 dwellings in total this is not considered to be a site of strategic importance. It is considered that there are just as many sites of equal size that fall within the council's 'Amber Sites' category. So the question is why the Former Foundry site has an elevated status to that of a strategic site over the others in the SHLAA.

This is a large Greenfield site that should not be developed. Other previously developed sites in more sustainable locations close to Leamington Town Centre should be given preference in favour of these type of sites which result in urban sprawl into the countryside
