Do you agree that the Council has identified all reasonable options for the location of new employment land?

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

Thickthorn in Kenilworth is the obvious location to create employment land (in our view 25 acres minimum- to provide an average take up of say 2 acres pa) plus additional infrastructure and ancillary uses- residential on the area going towards Rugby Club would be the obvious addition. The A46 provides a natural boundary of this expansion.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

KCOT wholeheartedly support the proposals to create more employment land in Kenilworth. Thickthorn provides opportunity to create high quality business park [employment uses - B1/2/8] with a new access off the A46 Bypass island. KCOT also see the opportunity for Hotel but would not support additional licensing premises/bars/restaurants outside hotel. No support for retail/warehousing or large distribution over 2500 sq.m. Suupport for limited trade counter uses. Requirement for development brief with infrastructure before any development granted. KCOT should be gifted a strip of legacy land under S106/CIL at the end of any development to protect green belt.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

Kenilworth Town centre is undergoing a renaissance and it is vital for the sustainability of the town that this continues whilst recognising that as a retail centre it will not compete directly with Leamington. Key to its ongoing sustainability is the need to create more employment uses and opportunities in the town to support existing retail/leisure and employment. This will help to stem outward migration for employment. Seekuing a balance will requre additional support infrastructure [healthcare, education, housing and leisure facilities] and upgraded services/highways will also be critical.

ID sylw: 6841

Derbyniwyd: 22/09/2009

Ymatebydd: Kenilworth Chamber of Trade

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

Kenilworth needs to be allowed to develop a broad range of retail offers so that residents need to travel less to larger centres such as Solihull, Leamington and Coventry.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

One of our town's great assets is Kenilworth Castle. Links between this and the town centre need to be improved and greater cohesive effort by organisations such as Shakespeare Country can help to optimise this as a way to generate more business for the town.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

Key is the ability to adapt to change over the plan period. KCOT would support he idea that the existing Common Lane Industrial Estate could be eventually surrendered to residential use but this is strictly predicated on the basis that at least 25 acres of employment land have been exclusively allocated and under development at an alternate site in town such as Thickthorn.
