Overall I really like the scope of ambition in this plan. Warwickshire has a desirable mix of urban and rural considering the challenges to come. It should be possible to achieve social, economic and environmental RESILIENCE through the vision and strategic objectives here.

I think there is an important gap. Missing: resilient food systems. It’s not enough to rely on the large food retailers notwithstanding their effectiveness as a distribution engine in crisis. Food is a food chain: healthy soil, skilled farmers, producers at every scale, and a widely distributed skill base (jobs; nutrition; affordability; accessibility; fairness; culture).

Agree in principle to majority of Objectives but i take issue with the common use of buzz words such as Net Zero, Low Carbon, Sustainability and renewable energies without any substance and clarity within the UK today and whether it is scalable and affordable. Quite a narrow view and confusing one when you ignore the ecological impact from cradle to grave and not just the impact in UK for obtaining the precious resources to drive such a vision. The Vision at high-level is right but the choice of words could be simplified and improved.

We are been robbed of our village. It should be our choice if we want to expand the area in which we live, not the choice of others who do not live here!!! We have a school, a pub, a dentist, a shop, butchers, bakery. That is all. We have to go to the next town for the doctors and a train line. You are planning to stretch what is already so small putting pressure on our schools and services!! Is there no respect for green belt land these days?!

The quality of life for residents in south Warwickshire has been affected adversely by over development. The vast number of new homes built in the towns and villages has caused massive impact on transport. Travel at peak times has become extremely difficult, with long delays and queues affecting everyone. Cycling is not the answer for the elderly or infirm, needing to get from surrounding villages to hospital or GP appointments etc in the towns. Water/sewage pipes in many areas are now not coping with the huge extra demand with frequent poor pressure/pipe bursts causing real problems for residents.

These are all good aims, but, in my experience, the massive new housing developments in Stratford-on-Avon have caused increased traffic jams on the A3400 into Stratford, which only causes more carbon emissions. I am not convinced that increased development will make South Warwickshire more beautiful and sustainable. It is a beautiful area already, so development needs to be gradual and proportionate. Green belt should be protected - higher populations need access to more green areas, not less.

There is an over-use of high-level popular themes and 'buzz-words' in many of the objectives which in turn makes specific implementation guidance difficult as almost everything is in play. Objective 4 should have more specific links to the other government initiatives to grow the economy and jobs in specific sectors. Objective 12 speaks to leveraging what already exists and references 'green space'. It should not shy away from mentioning the Green Belt specifically which has been in effect for ~50 years now. 50 years of consistent policy implementation and hard-fought protection provides a great foundation / heritage to build upon.

There are several empty/derelict properties in the area, these should be developed for housing primarily not tourism. The current level of tourism overloads the road and other infrastructure. Traffic flow around Stratford and sewage problems are examples of the overloaded infrastructure. No green space should be used for new developments until all brownfield sites are repurposed.

You do not put economic growth at the heart of delivering the vision - without that it will amount to nothing and is just fanciful political speak and dreaming. We have to fund beauty, health, sustainability, recreation, education etc and that comes from creating an economy that is growing, increasing productivity and harnessing the economic power of all citizens so that they can play a meaningful part in civil society. Growth is core to everything else in the plan.

An efficient and reliable Public transport system must be provided in order to get people away from ignition combustion engine vehicles. The public transport must enable efficient connectivity of all transport forms: walking, scooter, cycle, rail.
Commercial transport is currently dependent upon ignition vehicle engines and it is unlikely that there will be alternatives to achieve the zero emissions required by 2050 or beyond. Therefore, an electro rail / road system needs to be investigated and implemented.

1) As "Growth" is fortuitously mentioned first must we assume that the Objectives are in descending order of importance? If not, what relative weight will be given to them - if there is a conflict between two or more?
2) Re the need for sustainability why is there no mention of rail in Objective 3 or statement that further development of the existing lines would be desirable? The line via Henley and the main line south through Warwick could be extended to Long Marston and beyond and there is an existing spur to Kineton/Gaydon with good access north and south.
