There seems to be an assumption that if a new development is in a rural location surrounded by open countryside then Local Green Space is unimportant/not needed/exists already. The fact is that the fields around a settlement are NOT LGS. They are in private ownership and any incursion will be trespass.
There appears to no initiative in the SWLP to suggest how this problem might be addressed.
So developers build new dwellings, offering the absolute minimum of open space. A few swings and play equipment is provided. No attention is given to the adult need for open green space.

For example in Kenilworth three areas - Bullimore Grove, Rocky Lane, Crewe Lane Arboretum and Cherry Orchard lack formal designation because of lack of clarity about ownership and responsibility, thus opening them up to speculative development.

I agree with the approach laid out but would go further to include that any existing local green space should not be adversely affected by proposed adjacent developments. For example, the proposed development site next to the allotments in Wellesbourne would effectively cut off the allotments from the wider green space which nature relies upon, and would negatively affect the benefits to health and wellbeing that the allotments bring

Protection needs to be robust. Also the Councils should not be relying on the few adopted Neighbourhood Plans. It is essential that high density housing developments which these days have pocket handkerchief gardens have access to green open space, both managed and wild, for wellbeing and mental health. It is important that all areas of green space, recreational facilities or habitat space within existing housing developments are protected by automatic inclusion within the Plan. This should apply whatever its designation or status - even if it has no such designation or status. So long as it was either described as open space or green space in a housing development planning document then it should be protected as such within the new Plan. They should never be used for housing infill or to increase the density of buildings on an estate. They are important to the local residents.
