Do you agree with the approach laid out in Draft Policy Direction- 12-Locations for Employment Growth?

Representation ID: 99446

Received: 06/03/2025

Respondent: Hatton Parish Council

Representation Summary:

Wedgenock Park Farm should remain just that.
Together with Site B1, Land at Hatton, if selected, these sites would extend the Warwick built-up area some 4 miles north-west, with the obliteration of valuable Green Belt land which identifies the historic town of Warwick.
This would be used mainly for warehousing and distribution, providing little employment and much pollution from HGV movements.
Employment opportunities should be concentrated in urban areas hollowed out by closure of shops due on-lone retail activity and reduced need for office space due WFH and AI

Do you agree with the approach laid out in Draft Policy D: Large Scale Renewable Energy Generation and Storage?

Representation ID: 102319

Received: 07/03/2025

Respondent: Hatton Parish Council

Representation Summary:

The use of agricultural land for solar power cannot be justified due
1. Loss of carbon sequestration by the vegetation shaded by the panels
2. Carbon cost of importing the food that the land would not then produce
3. Loss of food security in an increasingly unstable world
It seems there are going top be a lot more roofs in South Warwickshire and that is where the solar panels should go.

Do you agree with the approach laid out in Draft Policy Direction-31- Sustainable Transport Accessibility?

Representation ID: 102652

Received: 07/03/2025

Respondent: Hatton Parish Council

Representation Summary:

The intention is not contestable
There is however no evidence of any willingness to move from independent motorised transport unless it is made completely impracticable, ie as in large metropolitan districts.
'Active Travel' does not happen. The number of cycles in the storage facility at Warwick Parkway station has not been seen to exceed 10. Existing cycle lanes and paths are little used, and the roads, especially in the towns of Warwick District are chronically congested
The proximity of site B1 next Hatton Station would not meaningfully reduce motor car usage.

Representation ID: 102676

Received: 07/03/2025

Respondent: Hatton Parish Council

Representation Summary:

The NSs and SGLs, all on greenfield sites will result in loss of habitat and biodiversity and it is difficult to see how this can be offset within the district unless large areas of land are set aside with low-intensity agriculture and rewilding.
Site B1 Land at Hatton would be a suitable such area.
