The importance of protecting the Cotswold National Landscape is recognised. The Interactive Map illustrates a 3km buffer, although this is not referenced in the Preferred Options document. Clarity and justification on the extent of buffer zone will be important to ensure the Policy is justified in line with NPPF Paragraph 36 b). Any Policy wording should ensure flexibility within the buffer zones to ensure they are not overly restrictive to development proposals which would otherwise have a limited impact on the National Landscape. This will allow the Policy to be considered positively prepared in line with NPPF Paragraph 36 a).
