The provision of housing can be effectively integrated with the canal at this location providing security for boaters and towpath users and at the same time an attractive sustain able setting for the residents. It may be possible to use the canal water for the communal water based heat pumps. 106 funding attracted through the development could support sustainable transport routes for the development and an attractive waterside parkland for the use of visitors and residents.

It is essential that the definition of infrastructure for the purposes of local infrastructure planning and distribution of CIL revenue include waterways and the related waterway assets necessary for their operation and maintenance.
