The Highway Authority would welcome a dedicated chapter which would set out the provision for highways and standard requirements for new residential developments, including requirements for access arrangements.
The chapter could also include information on the provision of infrastructure for sustainable modes of transport.
The HA actively promotes walking neighbourhoods, and the RTPI Guidance on Dementia and Town Planning, most notably the need for legible and well connected neighbourhoods and developments, which use techniques including landmark buildings, landmark trees and changes in vegetation and materials to guide people through a development.
The Highway Authority considers that this document has the potential to provide a clear highway structure for new developments. The Highway Authority would welcome a dedicated chapter which would set out the provision for highways and standard requirements for new residential developments. This would also include requirements for access arrangements.
The chapter could also include information on the provision of infrastructure for sustainable modes of transport, including cycle infrastructure, bus stops and shelters and public rights of way with points of contact included for the County Council.
