The formation of the SWLP policies should continue to be based on a collaborative approach to mitigating environmental and health impacts. More clarity is required on what will be detrimental to health and wellbeing.
Introduction of a Screening Report could help in determining what is detrimental, however the blanket policy for all major developments is not justified. Instead, the policy should isolate impacts and only require screening and assessment where a proposal would clearly be detrimental.

Given the scale of development it will be impossible to maintain a safe and healthy environment. The increase in traffic will increase pollution. Development will cause noise pollution and will reduce opportunities for walking and other leisure activities in the beautiful South Warwickshire countryside. The increased population will increase demand for health services which are already under pressure. In particular, Warwick Hospital is already at capacity and an increased population will inevitably result in longer wait times for treatment and the death of some patients! Will the significant investment in health care that will be required be forthcoming?

I broadly agree. I would also like to state that many utilise living in the countryside in South Warwickshire as place for peace and comfort, and as an escape from the higher pace of life in a town/city. People use the countryside for walks in the fresh air to help ease mental health and for fitness. Please also consider this.

The chapter seeks to deliver a healthy, safe and inclusive South Warwickshire, which is welcomed, and outlines strategies to enhance community well-being through policies addressing pollution control and the implementation of Health Impact Assessments (HIAs) for major developments. These measures aim to mitigate environmental hazards and ensure that new developments contribute positively to public health. The emphasis on comprehensive pollution management and the requirement for HIAs reflect a proactive approach to fostering healthier, safer, and more inclusive communities Comments are provided to the specific policy directions.

I broadly support the proposals in the "A Healthy, Safe, and Inclusive South Warwickshire" chapter, particularly the emphasis on mitigating pollution and considering health impacts through assessments. Ensuring developments, such as SG04, align with policies on reducing pollution and promoting healthy lifestyles is crucial for building sustainable communities. I also appreciate the inclusion of Health Impact Assessments for major developments, as they help address the potential impacts on local health. However, more specific consideration of how green spaces and recreational areas are integrated into large developments could further enhance community wellbeing and inclusivity.

Health & Wellbeing needs to be central to decision making.
Pollution control should not be elided with climate change. This is lazy science. Eg Pm10s are pollutants resulting from combustion but not responsible for climate change per sais.

I object to the A Healthy, Safe, and Inclusive South Warwickshire section due to concerns about the plan's effectiveness in addressing health inequalities and promoting community well-being. The proposed policies lack specificity in mitigating pollution and ensuring that major developments undergo comprehensive health impact assessments. Additionally, there is insufficient emphasis on creating accessible green spaces and promoting active lifestyles, which are crucial for public health. Without clear, actionable strategies, the plan may fail to foster a genuinely healthy, safe, and inclusive environment for all residents.

The ICB is supportive of draft Policy Direction-30- Health Impact Assessment for Major Development. The ICB is mindful that broader issues affecting population health and wellbeing, including air pollution/quality and the availability of green spaces, are priorities. Recognising this, the ICB would strongly endorse the direction, including the use of Health Impact Assessments. The ICB envisages closer proactive working with the District Councils to help inform and develop the future Health Impact Assessment and Supplementary Planning Documents that will be undertaken to ensure health considerations are integrated into the planning process.
