‘Radford Semele Parish Council strongly supports the use of Areas of Restraint. The Radford
Semele Neighbourhood plan includes an Area of Separation to prevent coalescence of
Leamington Spa/Whitnash with Radford Semele. These areas are essential to protect the
character of some communities and should be protected against any form of development.’

‘Radford Semele Parish Council agrees with this proposal provided that it is used to protect
and enhance the range of various landscape types in the area and that this designation
doesn’t become a Green Belt by any other name thus restricting development to an everdecreasing part of the area.

that the value of Grade 3b agricultural land is fully considered in planning decisions so as
much as possible of currently productive Grade 3b land is retained for food production.’

‘Radford Semele Parish Council supports the overall thrust of the chapter on biodiversity and
environmental resilience but believes it should be strengthened. It should protect public
footpaths as linear open space. Areas of Restraint to avoid coalescence of settlements
should be protected from development. More emphasise should be placed on the
protection of productive Grade 3b agricultural land.
