We agree with this policy although have some concerns about the inclusion of MUGA's on larger developments as the upkeep is difficult and without some control of use will rapidly degrade.

As well as future provision of allotments, current allotments should be protected from development.. Whist we applaud the idea of beehives, these need specialist care.

Do you agree with the approach laid out in Draft Policy Direction-44- Outdoor Sports and Leisure?

A full audit of outdoor sports and leisure facilities should be undertaken so that resources can be directed to those areas where there is an under provision. Wellesbourne and Walton Parish is already identified by SDC in its Core Strategy to have a deficit and nothing has yet been done to remedy this.

It is a great pity that this document does not follow the policy above. the potential developments of SG15, Sg16, X1 and SG09 would destroy the landscape and character of the Parish of Wellesbourne and Walton. They would create a vast urban sprawl at odds with the village nature we currently have, surrounded by open countryside. The proposed sites for development are all about the rapacious nature of developers and nothing about the character and landscape of our settlement.

We do not support for the following reasons. Over development of the area surrounding the parish. A loss of the character and landscape. A lack of infrastructure to support the development we already have. Medical centre, dentists, school all oversubscribed or close to it. A lack of playing fields, lack of leisure facilities particularly a sports hall. A poor system of public transport, with no rail connectivity. Sustainable transport is unobtainable without the infrastructure of cycle lanes, safe footways and improved public transport. Water, sewage, broadband, provision all creaking.

Wellesbourne airfield: it is very important that the flying functions of the airfield are safeguarded. Whilst we recognise that the site will be used for other meters including industrial development it s vital that this is not done at the cost of the flying functions. The preference from development of the site should be for research and be allied to the University Campus close by. There is little need for further storage and distribution units when some of those already in the village are empty. The additional development should not occur before the runway is in situ.

Flooding concerns: Flood Zone 3. Poor access and an increase in congestion in the area which borders the Conservation Area. In creased traffic movements in an already busy area with poor access. Lack of pedestrian access. This area is not in line with the Neighbourhood Plan as it is south of the river.
