Kings Hill is too large and too close to the city to be its own community and is cut off from Coventry by overloaded road networks.

This is one of the weakest sections of the whole document. Lack of vision, ambition and energy. See comments on 6a.... and airport at Baginton needs regeneration too.

Key is the ability to adapt to change over the plan period. KCOT would support he idea that the existing Common Lane Industrial Estate could be eventually surrendered to residential use but this is strictly predicated on the basis that at least 25 acres of employment land have been exclusively allocated and under development at an alternate site in town such as Thickthorn.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

Regeneration
The Parish Council believes that there has been insufficient focus on our deprived areas. The preferred option document seems to be saying that "we don‟t know what to do about it and really we are not particularly concerned". Development of community facilities, educational resources, starter business units, attractive locations and better housing mixes, including comprehensive redevelopment of poorly served areas could well be brought into the mix.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

Regeneration strategy right to focus on Lillington, Brunswick and Kingsway in Leamington, Packmores and The Cape in Warwick.
Significant experience of successful regeneration work undertaken in Leamington Old Town; should build on findings; regeneration must include social, environmental and physical aspects as well as economic. Disappointing that the CS focuses development in north Leamington. Would be better for town centre development to concentrate on areas in need of regeneration such as the Court Street / Althorpe Street site and the Leamington Station / Ford Foundry site. Such developments should be mixed use.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

Support. Helping deprived areas through regeneration is supported. The Core Strategy should recognise the role of retail employment in delivering regeneration benefits and contributing to the overall employment and economic activity in the District.

The redevelopment of the Ford Foundry and wider arc of opportunity to the south of the railway line points to maximising the value of regeneration. These have the potential to provide sustainable linkages so as to address relative deprivation in Brunswick and Kingsway wards.

We agree with setting out a strategic policy framework of helping disadvantaged areas with more detailed work being carried out locally.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

The strategy should have regard to the Warwickshire Sustainable Community Strategy and in particular its key issue of narrowing the gap between different neighbourhoods. Reference could be made to tageted geographic priorities for addressing deprivation in Brunswick, Crown and West Warwick and the key partners involved.

The Sydenham and Whitnash areas display serious indicators of declining services in both public and private facilities. The proposals put forward in respect of South Sydenham can redress a number of these deficiencies and act as a catalyst for regeneration.

four areas within the District (Lillington East, Brunswick south east, Brunswick south west and Kingsway) ranked in the top 30% most deprived areas nationally. the CS states that 'it is not the purpose of the CS to set out detailed policies and allocations required to improve those specific deprived areas. this would be more appropriately undertaken at the local level working with communities through the development of an area action plan or supplementary planing document for specific areas of the District'
