We need a lot more ev chargers than we have now, even without further expansion of housing. It’s the long journey that needs catering for.

EV infra structure is still in very early stages and despite government attempts to stop fuel vechiles, the system is still a long way off working. Adding EV infrastructure is not required

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

Electric vehicles are part of the solution to sustainable transport, but they should not be the primary method of sustainably powering private vehicles.

This focus has come about only through central governments mandating a solution to the pollution of fossil fuelled travel.

Hydrogen is a far more implementable and sustainable way of storing energy.

Put the requirement for zero carbon emissions on vehicle manufacturers and let/ make them produce the best solutions.

In particular that planning permission for new housing will require EV charging points. Astonishing that it isn't already a requirement on estate being built now. Danger is Warwickshire will be as far behind as it already is on fibre wifi. Heat pumps too best installed at development not retro fitted.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

Agree in principle but the infrastructure should be fast charge points everywhere anything less is unviable.

What is of major concern within this policy is the lack of foresight for enabling infrastructure for driverless cars. Whilst this maybe the future it highlights one massive UK and global standards and directives that should be formed to frame the future landscape of EVs to enable councils to plan appropriate rather than spend their time digging up roads / pavements and permanent chaos and a blight to the local towns / cities and new developments.

I remain to be convinced by the EV myth. If calculations included the extra wear on roads and tyre degradation due to extra vehicle weight, arguments may become more credible. The full life cycle requires inclusion also of the cost of the new demand on raw materials, their supply chain, as well as infrastructure and environmental costs of electricity before you give yourselves the Blue Peter badge,

The use of EVs is not yet mainstream but needs to be planned for. Provision of public charging stations in a rural area may increase traffic there in order to use the facilities, this will cause congestion and noise pollution, urbanisngin what should be a rural location.

Yes but. I know of people with no private parking space who are delaying switching to EV because there is not suitable charging location within range. I also see that WCC is inept/incompetent in providing on-street chargers - eg. binswood Avenue where WCC spend our money to install signs to encourage non-EV vehicles to block the chargers. Unbelievable!

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

Proposed highway improvements focus on increasing capacity to manage congestion and support future growth. While beneficial, increased road capacity can actually lead to higher car usage, which could contradict sustainability goals. A key concern for neighbouring areas is whether traffic impact assessments have been conducted to avoid shifting congestion to external road networks. How will any resultant roadwork disruption be minimised during construction and what agreements will be established for any cross-boundary infrastructure.
