Any proposals to reduce travel impacts on carbon emissions must be very credible and measurable.
Electric vehicles are not the only solution and other zero carbon emission solutions should be (at least) equally supported.

The plan needs a stronger policy on what roads are suitable for heavy vehicles and how to improve them so that drivers are encouraged to use them. More needs to be done to protect village centres from heavy through traffic that need not be there.

Existing bus network is so poor as to be functionally unusable. Potholes have rendered the roads dangerous. No sign of any improvement.

The plan for sustainable transport is commendable however in the case of Bearley/Wilmcote the current road network is not able to meet demand that the development would create.
Currently the Birmingham Road into Stratford is frequently gridlocked and there are very few alternative routes if any. The alterations to the top of the Birmingham Road for cyclists does not extend to the road near Bearley and would not be suitable for families with children.

Yes but do it! Don't approve plans for housing and employment South/East of the Avon when the only access is via a 1485 grade 1 listed bridge. Lorries using the medieval Clopton bridge to reach Atherstone on Stour demonstrates planners don't have maps. Alternative last mile exists from Pashley - I have my own.

There needs to be more emphasis on creating new railway stations to improve transportation links for employment, reducing carbon emissions and traffic congestion.

Supporting low carbon transport for commercial use is to be welcomed. However I'd also like to see employment development co-located with the larger new settlements, so that the same benefits can be given to them as this draft policy direction is affording to existing towns.

Sadly the comments on electric vehicles are potentially out of date.
Electric / battery cars are not the long term solution and are increasingly being recognised as as big an environmental issue as petrol and diesel internal combustion engined vehicles. We should take care with how much infrastructure is put in for charging infrastructure.
Long term we are likely to have hydrogen internal combustion engined vehicles or hydrogen / oxygen electricity generation cells electric vehicles.

More free car Parking options should be made available as charges are on the rise and wider and safer roads that can deal with growing transport. Increase rail connectivity would be very welcome as at the moment the only option from Stratford is to go to Birmingham. Villages should be rail connected even if it’s light rail/ trams

There appears to be insufficient emphasis on planning and construction of new railway stations to improve transportation links in Stratford for employment, reducing carbon emissions, and alleviating traffic congestion. We should focus on this as it can greatly benefit the community.

There is an excessive focus on constructing new railway stations to enhance transportation links. This development may not significantly improve access to employment opportunities, increase carbon emissions, and worsen traffic congestion. By expanding railway networks, cities and regions might not connect better with each other, potentially hindering economic growth and sustainability. The emphasis on such infrastructure projects could lead to progress towards less efficient and more environmentally harmful transportation systems. It is not crucial to prioritise the creation of new stations to support these broader goals, as there are other ways to ensure a connected and sustainable future for all.

This will reduce congestion and carbon emissions, improving air quality.

The work of the Local Planning Authority and the Highways Authority requires much better
co-ordination in relation to the highway capacity needed to service developments. There are
many inadequacies in the highway network. Some of these are unavoidable because of old
historical layouts but others are more recent and stem from poor integration between land
use planning and transport planning.
The highway infrastructure required for new developments should be installed upfront not
after the development has taken place.

The plan also seeks to enhance public transport through better bus and rail services, but its success will depend on regional integration. Are transport operators suitably engaged and committed to providing cross-border services, and how will rural areas be effectively served.
