Potential Settlement Question X1

ID sylw: 88996

Derbyniwyd: 19/02/2025

Ymatebydd: Stratford upon Avon District Council

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

The gap between Wellesbourne and Leamington is extremely important. This settlement particularly if it was implemented with SG9 and 10 would extend Leamington southwards to an unacceptable degree.
If a new motorway junction is to be produced associated with this settlement it should have no connection south west of the motorway. This would only introduce more traffic towards Wellesbourne. A link road from here to Stratford would be expensive, intrusive and completely undesirable. Much better to improve Longbridge still further and upgrade the A46 westwards.

Potential Settlement Question BW

ID sylw: 88997

Derbyniwyd: 19/02/2025

Ymatebydd: Stratford upon Avon District Council

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

This is a prominent greenbelt area and its development would destroy the integrity of Bearley and Wilmcote villages. The infrastructure here is wholly inadequate. There is an insufficiently wide buffer zone between the northern edge of Stratford and the new settlement. It would almost form a line of ribbon development.
It would put intolerable pressure on Birmingham Road Stratford

Do you agree with the approach laid out in Draft Policy Direction 4- Accommodating Growth Needs Arising from Outside South Warwickshire?

ID sylw: 89001

Ymatebydd: Stratford upon Avon District Council

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

With increased standard housing numbers and reduced numbers for adjoining authorities there should be les need to accommodate overspill. IF we are forced to take overspill there must be agreement that the authority exporting their growth pays the whole cost of additional infrastructure necessary

Ymatebydd: Stratford upon Avon District Council

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

This section is out of date some of the road improvements mentioned have already been provided (Portobello Crossroads) The provision of infrastructure is crucial to the success of the plan. The Infrastructure plan is awaited and more comment can be made once the proposals contained in that plan are known.

Do you agree with the approach laid out in Draft Policy Direction 7- Green Belt?

Ymatebydd: Stratford upon Avon District Council

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

In view of the scale of the development we are being forced to accommodate the preservation of the green belt cannot be regarded as an overriding consideration. If that is done there will be unacceptable pressure on the area of the plan immediately to the south of the green belt

Do you agree with the approach laid out in Draft Policy Direction-8- Density?

ID sylw: 89011

Derbyniwyd: 19/02/2025

Ymatebydd: Stratford upon Avon District Council

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

Densities must be increased in urban areas in order to accommodate housing numbers and minimise the loss of green fields. Higher density developments are more sustainable. In high density areas where there is good public transport the requirement to provide parking spaces should be relaxed

Do you agree with the approach laid out in Draft Policy Direction 9 - Using Brownfield Land for Development?

ID sylw: 89014

Derbyniwyd: 19/02/2025

Ymatebydd: Stratford upon Avon District Council

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

Certainly in an urban context. But in rural areas using brownfield land for housing sometimes leads to incongruous and detrimental housing development, sporadic and isolated from facilities or services. Land that had been neglected or wilfully allowed to become derelict should not automatically be considered for development.

Do you agree with the approach laid out in Draft Policy Direction 10- Providing the Right Tenure and Type of Homes?

ID sylw: 89016

Derbyniwyd: 19/02/2025

Ymatebydd: Stratford upon Avon District Council

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

We have a general shortage of low cost smaller houses and there is a need for this to be rectified in the plan. Preference should be given to schemes that provided housing at below market value and addrees the needs identified in local surveys.
There should be a general presumption against substantially extending smaller houses in rural areas. Many small houses and cottages suitable for local people have been bought up by people from outside the area and extended into very large dwellings often in unsustainable locations generating unacceptable levels of additional traffic,
