We need to ensure we improve our current position in relation to supporting and improving social, economic, poorly designed estates, environmental issues and crime levels before considering developing new areas.

The heritage and historic nature of Warwick should not be converted into a "new" town clone.

There is no suggestion within the 'Social Inclusion and Personal Well-Being section, that the real
needs of Gypsies and Travellers have been assessed in any depth or by consultation with those
groups. By definition, their needs are largely of a transitory nature and therefore difficult to
determine, meaning that a disproportionate, but nevertheless vital, effort may be needed to properly
establish such needs.

There are no references to improving transport and mobility for the whole community. Objective No5 infers that development is the only remedy to improve vibrancy. There is also no reference to developing a learning culture and insufficient reference to the development of cultural attractions.

Few people would disagree with the strategic objectives, but there are too many of them. Some are beyond the power of any authority to deliver. The strategic objectives should be sharper and more focused

But - help to maintain the present economy of the District by; Stopping the trend (for now) of allowing the redevelopment of exisitng employment premises/sites. The level of housing provision is unlikely to be matched by the level of requisite employment provision.
Please do not overload town centres, they are already under stress, and sites are limited. Put more emphasis on linking job creation in the comprehensive growth areas, and not just in the ubiquitous 'mixed use' designation - consider dedicated site(s) closely associated with those new preferred housing allocations.

Develop a culture where the local community is engaged and encourage to partake in local gardening activities to grow food including allotments from existing land and future provision. WDC needs to use its food producing land as effectively as possible to provide for our present and future needs as imports from overseas with carbon miles become more expensive with the changing climate and with 3rd world food demand increasing. Self sufficiency and building on food producing land do not go together

Any housing development should ensure local people's needs are met, not those from out the area especially as all Council's are doing this. More thought needs to go into what roads, jobsm schools and public transport is needed. Afterwards is too late! Whitnash is a prime example of housing being built but nothing else to support the area once more people move in.

Regeneration in urban areas must be priority to achieve strong sustainable economy. Pollution and poor air quaility must be tackled - targets for improvement defined. Rural communities, their environment/social well being need protection. Large (500+) housing developmentd must be avoided because of their lack of social cohesion.
