Object to GT02. Recently moved to within a few hundred yards of the proposed site. Reasons GT02 would not be suitable are based on hard facts, degree of due diligence and first-hand experience of the vicinity.
A Gypsy/Traveller site abutting exhibition centre would be devastating on this business which attracts over 30,000 visitors a year. Also these visitors use local hotels, B&Bs, pubs and restaurants, local shops, petrol stations and shops in the town centre so the impact on local economy would be significant.
Local schools and Doctors surgeries are full to capacity. The extra 200 homes to be built in the Sydenham area increases this pressure. Gypsies and Travellers would face these issues too so GT02 does not offer them suitable access to local schools and GPs surgeries.
GT02 does not provide suitable Public transport links. There is a bus stop close to the roundabout, it is not paved just a grass verge and is reached via a busy road, with warning signs highlighting the dangers of this road.
There have been numerous accidents and fatalities on this stretch of the Fosse Way and there is no safe access point. Abundance of council warning signs highlights this issue.
Site is clearly visible from all directions and impossible to screen/integrate. The Fosse Way is a historic road, there's a nearby historic toll house and surrounding woodland area is listed in doomsday book with many protected species. A Gypsy Traveller site would therefore impact upon the historic and natural environment.
Building Regulations require extensive drainage works in this area due to flooding risks and this part of the Fosse Way suffered from flooding some years ago. GT02 would therefore also be at risk.
Insufficient research had been carried out on the suitability of GT02 as it clearly does not meet the councils own suitability criteria. A thorough and detailed report would not have identified GT02 as an option.

Aware of the need to find permanent sites. Not a NIMBY but this site should be reconsidered. It is not viable and risks significantly damaging the economic well-being of this area because:
1. site has the potential to lead to significant employment but needs time. Development of Stoneleigh was not overnight.
2. risks damaging a historically important area not yet explored/matrixed; requires significant investment /changes to road and transportation links to make it viable.
3. provides rural setting for Leamington and satellite villages. Housing will impact visually and on the leisure and health balance for locals.
Therefore economic, historic and infrastructure impacts outweigh need for this site plus there are a number of alternative sites that pose significantly less risk.

Land is not suitable as it will dramatically affect the operation of Warwickshire Exhibition Centre which has been on site for more than 10 years, attracting 40,000 visitors a year to range of events. Enjoying significant growth and retaining clients. This news has had an effect on bookings and spread uncertainty. Do not know what impact will be on surrounding land, parking and event operations. Contribute massively to local economy. Value should not be underestimated. Upt 40 people employed and these jobs are at risk. Centre would cease to exist if site granted.
There is a bus route but don't recommend it as it is dangerous road to walk along.
Fosse Way has had numerous accidents hence warning signs and speed cameras.
Immediateneighbours are in 6 dwellings with no more than 30 residents. A site could take 120 Travellers making residents the minority community.
Enfusion report could not ascertain effect on local economy. Clearly local economy, jobs and thriving businesses are at risk.

I live on the Fosse Way, near to the exhibition centre. I feel that, having three times recently become the victim of burglary, these locations further degrade the security and safety my family and the local residents.
I also believe it would add further blight to those already affected by HS2. If the exhibition centre site goes through I will have the train to one side of my property and the Gipsy site to the other. This, I believe will render my property unsellable.
I would ask that you rethink these proposals

Horrified about proposal in Whitnash area. Much green belt already lost to housing, factories and shops.
Views across to Warwick have gone. Urge Council to reconsider the plans. Whitnash wasn't a town but was countrified with excellent local facilities. Now it is 'boxed' in.
Primary schools and GP surgeries at or near capacity. Extra housing will reduce the number of jobs available. Consider the impact of pollution and disruption on the environment eg increasing carbon foot print.
Countryside is being lost because of greed. No need to incorporate Bishops Tachbrook with Leamington Spa. Will become a merged blur and not somewhere to reside. Our community sliding away.

Local GP surgeries are either full or not served by public transport meaning no convenient access.
Radford Primary School is almost full and will be oversubscribed if the proposed new houses are built in the village. Harbury Primary School is also full.
The public transport is satisfactory but residents are likely to use their own transport. There is a bus stop on the B425 but no pedestrian links from it to the potential site.
Site will generate hundreds of traffic movements daily adding to peak time delays on a fast road that is designated a High Risk Route by the County Council. Being on the junction of two major roads the access may require highway improvements but it's unwise to introduce more traffic here. Also any new bus shelters, pedestrian crossing, street lighting etc will add to the urbanization of the area.
Fosse Way a very busy main road which creates the potential for noise and disturbance to site residents
Site has no mains sewerage, drainage or gas and only a limited rural electricity supply line so fails to meet the Council's site requirement criteria.
At this point the Fosse Way is on its original alignment so considerable archaeological remains will be destroyed as previous remains have been found locally. Therefore it's important that archaeology and heritage of the area can be recovered and safeguarded prior to any site works.
The proposed site will cover 0.8 hectare (8000 m²) which is four times the size of the Exhibition Centre and could increase if working space is also included. The large number and variety of caravans and vehicles in the bottom of the valley cannot be integrated into the landscape without harming the visual appearance and character of the area. Also the historic traditional Woodlands provide habitat for birds and small mammals (Pipistrelle bats, great crested newts) and would be greatly affected by the site and possible intrusion and activities of younger residents.
The village of Radford Semele over 1.5 miles away and there is a very small community in Fosse Way (20 houses) within half a mile of the site. The 120 residents on site will absorb rather than integrate with this small local community so will not encourage peaceful and integrated co-existence.
The proposed site has no mains sewerage, drainage or gas and the electricity supply is a limited rural line which will possibly need upgrading to an increase in demand.
The perception of the site will impact on the Warwickshire Exhibition Centre which is likely to lose events and make it impossible to continue operating resulting in job losses. Local economy will lose the money spent on accommodation, food, entertainment etc from visitors to the Exhibition Centre (c£5m). Additionally several other local businesses (employing between 50 and 60 people) would be caused significant difficulties by this development.
Unauthorised expansion from the site onto agricultural land could mean contractors would not risk tractors and equipment and together with crop damage and possible rubbish deposits could result in the land becoming unsightly and unfarmed.
Fosse Alpaca and Kune Kune Pigs are located close to the site, and it is important to protect the animals from diseases (foot and mouth, bTB and Parro virus) which can be spread by human trespass and unvaccinated dogs. The animals graze on fields between the site and the Grand Union Canal.
The site will be major invasion into the openness of the countryside and will be an irreversible urbanisation of the entire area and make further 'ribbon' development harder to resist.

Radford Semele cannot provide the services to sustain an increased population as local Doctors Surgery and village school are at capacity.
Closure of Warwickshire Exhibition Centre means 40 job losses both of which negatively impact the local economy.
On a high accident risk travel route with more that 12 serious accidents in the last 3 years.
There is no footpath in the area.
Nearest bus stop has no lay-by and there is only a grass verge
Site is on the Archaeological Register with ancient pottery found recently and is next to the Fosse Way which is a major Roman Road and there is an historic toll site nearby.
Visual impact would be detrimental to the approach to Radford Semele.
Would prove detrimental to the wildlife habitat in the area.

Utterly appalled as it gives no consideration to those living within the local area.
Would be a significant decline in interest for organisers/attendees at the Exhibition Centre and it would eventually close. Given HS2 and possible closure of Stoneleigh Exhibition Centre it would be detrimental to local tourism and surrounding towns.
A significantly increased population would further impact upon GP services and provision of school places.

Object strongly at the proposal to purchase the Warwickshire Exhibition site for the use of travellers and gypsies. Cannot believe that this has been suggested.
How is it justifiable to remove someone's business and 40+ jobs to provide somewhere for people who do not work or pay taxes?
It's on a high risk travel route which is busy particularly in summer and at peak times.
No nearby amenities eg schools, doctors' surgeries, shops, which will add to the traffic.
It is near to protected wild life in ancient woodland.
Possible the site could be permanently ruined and thus detrimental to the historic rural countryside.

Object to site GT02 as inappropriate for the following reasons:
Impact on local economy: Warwick Exhibition Centre is thriving but prospective business lost since site proposed and more is at risk if site adopted. Would risk 40 jobs and £2m for local economy.
Access to local amenities: nearest doctors' surgery with capacity is almost 5 miles away with no direct bus service. Nearest schools are also nearing capacity. Have confirmed these details personally so suggest the consultants' viability assessment in this respect is not accurate.
Travel/safety: site on very high risk route, with 12 serious accidents in last 3 years. Dangerous as no pavements between the site and Radford Semele and bus stop is inadequate, offers no shelter and is very close to the road. Fosse Way and Radford and Southam Road are very busy commuter routes, dangerous for pedestrians and cyclists.
Visual impact: site is at the bottom of a valley and would be noticeable from all directions. Contravenes WDC policy.

Recognise the Council's responsibilities but suggest proposed site GT02 is inappropriate and should not be pursued.
It is next to an extremely busy, High Risk road. The risks are undeniable: my friend was killed by a vehicle reversing out of a Gypsy / Traveler camp onto the road she was on. Access to local facilities is poor, including no doctors' surgery nearby with spare capacity.

This site is in excess of 1.5miles from any GP surgery, some of which are full or not served by public transport.
Radford Primary School is almost full and additional houses in the village are already proposed. Harbury Primary School is full.
There is a bus stop on the B425 but there is no pedestrian links from it to the potential site. Travelling community unlikely to use public transport.
Site will generate additional traffic movements at the junction of two major roads. Highway improvements are necessary (creating more urbanisation) but will still add to existing peak time delays. Fosse Way is a designated High Risk Route by the County Council.
Fosse Way will generate noise pollution.
The proposed site has no mains sewerage, drainage or gas and electricity supply is a limited rural line.
Site is near the Fosse Way's original alignment so archaeological remains are likely to be destroyed by the development. Nearby historic Woodlands which contain rare species will be adversely impacted, especially by possible intrusion and activities of younger residents.
The proposed site will cover 0.8 hectare (8000 m²) and could possibly increase in size. The site is at the bottom of the valley so not possible to integrate this use into the landscape without harming the visual appearance and character of the area. It could be a precedent for further ribbon development.
Radford Semele over 1.5 miles away. The very small community of houses within half a mile of the site would be absorbed by the 120 travelling community so the site will not create peaceful and integrated co-existence.
Several businesses located here and this site would cause significant difficulties for all of them. The perception created would force the Exhibition Centre to close through lack of business. The spin-off tourist/visitor spending from the Exhibition Centre would also be lost if it were to close.
Unauthorised intrusion from the site occupiers onto the agricultural land could result in contractors not wishing to risk tractors and equipment and any crop damage and rubbish deposits could result in land ceasing to be farmed and becoming unsightly.
'Fosse Alpaca' and 'Kune Kune Pigs' breed rare livestock which graze on fields between GT02 and the Grand Union Canal. Human trespass and unvaccinated dogs would present a bio security threat.

Likely to be traffic between this site and one on other side of Fosse road with increased risk and severe disruption of traffic flow. Only site like this.
Location not cycle friendly; no lanes, hard shoulder or footways and frequent HGVs and wide farm vehicles.
Near a busy road junction with severe impacts resulting from any increase to traffic flow.
Loss of Exhibition Centre, a valuable and convenient venue with decrease to economic attractiveness of the area.
Not complement or in keeping visually; detract from natural beauty.

Substantial impact on local economy. Exhibition Centre a thriving and growing business feeding significant numbers of visitors to locality bringing business locally. Loss of jobs. It provides a bus service.
Also concerned at impact on historic and rural environment; site on archaeological register.
High visual impact - site visible from wide area could not be shielded - detriment to whole valley on main approach to Leamington and Warwick.

Parish Council fully accepts suitable sites for travellers should be provided but this site is not suitable on planning grounds, placing considerable strain on local resources and facilities while also adding to the highway accident risk.
There are no suitable medical facilities close to the proposed site. The nearest medical facility is in Harbury which is already struggling to cope with demand. Without significant extra resources to physically expand it cannot accept additional patients.
The site does not offer safe access to the road network. The speed limit is 60mph and there have been 57 accidents in the past five years on the Fosse between the B4100 and the A425. Three people have lost their lives in road accidents on this part of the Fosse in the past three years alone. Additional slow moving traffic (eg caravans/trailers) and junctions would increase the accident risk.
There are no suitable educational facilities close to the proposed site. Harbury Primary is already oversubscribed. School age children would likely have to travel into Leamington.
The proposed site is not on existing public transport network.

Strongly object to proposal for Gypsy/Traveller site at Warwickshire Exhibition Centre.
Moved to this area recently because of its location and rural setting in order to enjoy exploring the local countryside. The site is in a valley which will be viewed by those visiting Leamington and Warwick and will significantly damage local habitats.
Site is on high risk travel route with no bus stops or pavements, leading to safety issues.
Looking to start a family in near future and concerned that over-subscription to local primary school would be made even worse if this development went ahead.

Very surprised it would involve compulsory purchase and lead to closure of the Warwickshire Exhibition Centre. It makes a valuable contribution to the local area, direct employment and indirect employment. Difficult to believe Council would make a decision leading to the closure of a successful local business.
The Fosse Way is a notoriously dangerous road and a danger to the traveller children as very little room to pass a cyclist and absolutely no pavements to walk on. This is a dangerous position in which to place families.
Many incidents on this road caused by local traffic emerging from side roads at slow speeds. Therefore creation of new site and entrance is dangerous.
No public transport or pavements from the site to local amenities including a doctor's surgery and primary school. Local amenities unlikely to have capacity to cope with the influx.
Essential characteristics of rural area being whittled away.
Ufton Wood is an ancient woodland, precious and needing protection.
Area abounds with wildlife.
It's the approach to major tourist areas and would adversely affect attempts to encourage tourism.
Site is on the Archaeological Register and should be protected.

Object to this proposed site (and GT03 & GT04). They are close to Fosse Way, an exceptionally busy highway. No bus routes, safe footpaths or access points to the sites and there would be disregard for the cycle path. Traffic on Fosse way has increased dramatically with expansion of Jaguar/Land Rover at Gaydon. The sites are a poor choice for safety reasons for all users of this already saturated travel network.
The sites would create huge strain on resources eg school, pre-school and over-stretched doctors' surgery.
The sites are around flood risk areas. They would also contribute to over development of open countryside.

The Warwickshire Exhibition Centre makes valuable contribution to the local area and employment. Why close a business which can flourish in a location like this?
Horrified it will result in multiple vehicles coming out of a new entrance and joining the Fosse Way as a lot of incidents on the Fosse Way are caused by local traffic emerging from side roads at slow speeds - 12 serious accidents in the last 3 years.
Dangerous for traveller children living adjacent to this road, getting off school buses, or using bicycles as there's no pavement and little room on the road for bikes.
No access to services except by driving, which is highly undesirable but doubt fragile local services could cope with a big influx of newcomers.

Site is on high risk travel route with many serious accidents in last few years. Dangerous for buses to stop and there is no pathway on Fosse Way next to site.
Site is listed on archaeological register - recent pottery finds.
Local amenities already stretched eg doctors' surgery has no capacity for new patients and local primary school almost at capacity.
If plan goes ahead, WEC will close, meaning loss of up to 40 jobs and more than £2,000,000 from local economy annually.
Site is next to protected ancient woodland so risk to wildlife habitat. Visual impact across beautiful green valley can only be detrimental.

Objects to GT02 on the following grounds:
*Warwickshire exhibition centre is a thriving business which will be destroyed. The loss of employment will harm other businesses and bars and shops which rely on trade from visitors to the centre.
* the nearest GP surgery is full to capacity the next is 5 miles away. The primary school is nearly at full capacity.
* It will not be safe for children to leave the site due to the lack of footpaths, the only bus stop does not have pavement to reach it.
*The site is on a high risk travel route with more than 12 serious accidents in the last three years. Cycling is particularly hazardous on this route. Additional use of adjacent roads by gypsies and their vehicles will simply increase these dangers
* The site could be integrated into the landscape without harming the character of the area, wildlife and adjacent ancient woodland and archaeology.

Object to proposed gypsy and travellers' site at Warwickshire Exhibition Centre.
Economy. Extremely likely that site would result in closure of WEC, risking up to 40 local jobs during exhibitions and more than £2mil for local economy; these are particularly important given economic uncertainty.
Amenities. Nearest doctor's surgery has no capacity for additional patients, so nearest availability would be over 5 miles away with no direct bus service.
Travel. Site is on high risk travel route with more than 12 serious accidents in last 3 years. Bus service is on grass verge with no pavement, no pavements on nearby roads make walking hazardous and cycling is dangerous on busy commuter route. Significant investment needed to ensure safe travel from the site especially for children.
Environment. Site is on Archeological Register with ancient pottery recently found and on historic medieval toll site. Likely that a costly archeological dig would be required. There would be visual impact across the valley which is a gateway to Leamington and Warwick. As site is in a valley it could not be integrated into surrounding landscape. Also potential damage to wildlife habitat in adjacent protected ancient woodland.

As long-term resident of Radford Semele, object for following reasons:
Environment. Site provides wonderful views, natural habitat for birds and wildlife, and woodland. Extremely worried about the future of this beautiful valley. Land is of archaeological interest and should be preserved.
Amenities. Radford Semele has a good school but it is full. GP Surgeries in Southam/Sydenham are already over-stretched.
Travel: Traffic density has increased considerably and this would make it worse. May require new roads. Fosse Way not built to handle so much traffic and Dangerous Road signs are displayed.
Economy and homes. Extremely concerned about local businesses being able to cope with further development so close to their premises (they may close with loss of employment to local people) and about impact on existing homes.
Rural site with boundary hedges/trees would be more suitable.
