Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

Local GP surgeries are either full or not served by public transport meaning no convenient access.
Radford Primary School is almost full and will be oversubscribed if the proposed new houses are built in the village. Harbury Primary School is also full.
The public transport is satisfactory but residents are likely to use their own transport. There is a bus stop on the B425 but no pedestrian links from it to the potential site.
Site will generate hundreds of traffic movements daily adding to peak time delays on a fast road that is designated a High Risk Route by the County Council. Being on the junction of two major roads the access may require highway improvements but it's unwise to introduce more traffic here. Also any new bus shelters, pedestrian crossing, street lighting etc will add to the urbanization of the area.
Fosse Way a very busy main road which creates the potential for noise and disturbance to site residents
Site has no mains sewerage, drainage or gas and only a limited rural electricity supply line so fails to meet the Council's site requirement criteria.
At this point the Fosse Way is on its original alignment so considerable archaeological remains will be destroyed as previous remains have been found locally. Therefore it's important that archaeology and heritage of the area can be recovered and safeguarded prior to any site works.
The proposed site will cover 0.8 hectare (8000 m²) which is four times the size of the Exhibition Centre and could increase if working space is also included. The large number and variety of caravans and vehicles in the bottom of the valley cannot be integrated into the landscape without harming the visual appearance and character of the area. Also the historic traditional Woodlands provide habitat for birds and small mammals (Pipistrelle bats, great crested newts) and would be greatly affected by the site and possible intrusion and activities of younger residents.
The village of Radford Semele over 1.5 miles away and there is a very small community in Fosse Way (20 houses) within half a mile of the site. The 120 residents on site will absorb rather than integrate with this small local community so will not encourage peaceful and integrated co-existence.
The proposed site has no mains sewerage, drainage or gas and the electricity supply is a limited rural line which will possibly need upgrading to an increase in demand.
The perception of the site will impact on the Warwickshire Exhibition Centre which is likely to lose events and make it impossible to continue operating resulting in job losses. Local economy will lose the money spent on accommodation, food, entertainment etc from visitors to the Exhibition Centre (c£5m). Additionally several other local businesses (employing between 50 and 60 people) would be caused significant difficulties by this development.
Unauthorised expansion from the site onto agricultural land could mean contractors would not risk tractors and equipment and together with crop damage and possible rubbish deposits could result in the land becoming unsightly and unfarmed.
Fosse Alpaca and Kune Kune Pigs are located close to the site, and it is important to protect the animals from diseases (foot and mouth, bTB and Parro virus) which can be spread by human trespass and unvaccinated dogs. The animals graze on fields between the site and the Grand Union Canal.
The site will be major invasion into the openness of the countryside and will be an irreversible urbanisation of the entire area and make further 'ribbon' development harder to resist.

Relies on the Fosse Way for access but route has become busier and more and more dangerous over past few years. Road signs emphasise the high and growing casualty rates. Adding large and slow moving vehicles driven will add to those rates. No pavement means it's impossible or highly hazardous for pedestrians, particularly children.

Harbury School and Doctors Surgery are operating at or over capacity. Cannot offer an acceptable service if population increases.

No mains water, sewerage, gas or electricity. Their installation would be very expensive and highly disruptive.

Is flooded on a regular basis, causing disruption to anyone staying there.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

As long term resident of Warwickshire, feel we should all be concerned about siting any developments of this nature. Specifically object to any site along or near to Fosse Way.

These sites will create concrete jungles/possible dumping areas. Especially concerned about Fosse Way sites despoiling ancient roads and our heritage.

There is now so much traffic on these vital road links and this is already dangerous to motorists and cyclists. Going ahead with the site would mean greater risks of accidents.

Principal objections to this site are:

Local amenities are some distance with no public transport. Nearby schools and GP surgeries cannot handle a further influx of people.

Site doesn't have mains drainage which is a sanitation problem.

Road network in this location already has high accident rates which the proposal would exacerbate.

Compulsory purchasing the site which employs local people and is primed for growth would harm the local community and be inappropriate given the state of the economy.

Non-employment brownfield/redundant sites would be preferable.

Important for local economy and employment to keep Warwickshire Exhibition Centre open.

Local schools and doctors' surgeries are at full capacity.

On a high risk travel route. bus stop is on an overgrown verge so potentially dangerous.

Would place extreme pressure on the local infrastructure and services.

Inevitably lead to destruction of the natural environment for existing flora and fauna.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

FROM RAY STEELE

Objection the following reasons:-

The nearest GP surgeries are full and the Cubbington Road Surgery is 4.7 miles from the site but is not served by direct public transport so there is no convenient access to a surgery.

The Radford Primary School is almost full and if the additional houses are built in the village it will be full. It is outside of the Harbury catchment area but Harbury Primary School has too many children already.

The public transport is satisfactory but irrelevant as the residents are likely to use their own transport. The bus stop on the B425 has no pedestrian links to the potential site.

The 15 pitches could contain up to 50 vehicles and generate hundreds of traffic movements, adding significantly to existing peak time delays. It is on the junction of two major roads (Fosse Way is designated a High Risk Route by the County Council) and so highway improvements may be required although it is possibly unwise to introduce even more traffic turns at this major junction.

This site is adjacent to the Fosse Way, a very busy and noisy main road, likely to cause potential for noise and disturbance for site residents

The proposed site has no mains sewerage, drainage or gas and the electricity supply is a limited rural line which will possibly need to be upgraded to meet an increase in demand, placing pressure on local infrastructure.

The Fosse Way is on its original alignment and the development is likely to destroy the archaeological remains which have already been found in the area. The nearby traditional historic Woodlands contain rare species.

The proposed site is four times larger than the Exhibition Centre and will cover 0.8 hectare (8000 m²) and could possibly increase in size to six times as large. The site is at the bottom of the valley so not possible to integrate this use into the landscape without harming the visual appearance and character of the area. .

The very small community of houses within half a mile of the site would be absorbed by the 120 travelling community. Radford Semele is over 1.5 from the site so it will not promote peaceful and integrated co-existence.

FROM Anne Steel
Site 1.5 miles from surgery and outsite Harbury Surgery catchment area. Nearest is Sydenham (3.3 miles and full). Cubbington Road (4.7 miles and no public transport).
School (Radford Primary) almost full and will be with 100 houses proposed. Harbury has recent issues with too many children.
Public transport largely irrelevant. No pedestrian links to bus stop.
Location on junction of two major roads and access may need highway improvements. Unwise to add traffic and to existing peak time delays. Fosse Way fast and a designated High Risk Route.
Noise effect from main road.
No mains sewerage, drainage or gas. Electricity on a limited rural line that may need upgrade.
Archaeological remains in area will be destroyed and woodlands with rare species.
Will be 4 to 6 times size of the exhibition centre and large variety of caravans cannot be integrated into the landscape without harm to visual appearance and character.
Difficult to integrate into local community - will absorb.

Object to proposed travellers' site as follows:

Fosse Way connects sites GT02, 03 & 04 and traffic has built-up significantly recently mostly due to increase in workers travelling to Gaydon factory sites. Traveller sites would make this much worse. It is a fast road and could have accidents if travellers crossing on foot.

Combined School in Harbury provides high standard education for local children. An influx of traveller children would put a considerable strain on resources, unjustifiably adversely affecting village children.

Doctors' surgery in Harbury already serves several villages and is under strain. This would significantly increase the pressure to maintain services.

Makes no sense to use site for a different purpose especially if it means Warwickshire Exhibition Centre closing.
Very few local amenities so cannot provide a sustainable location.
Adding more people to the local population will put massive pressure on scarce resources.
Requires investment in schools, GP surgeries, public transport, pavements and road safety, shops etc.
Site is on high risk route.
No pavement for pedestrians.
No public transport.
Other areas proposed by the new local plan that would better suited.
Important to retain areas for wildlife and for people to enjoy.

Object for following reasons:

Amenities: nearest doctor's surgery has no capacity for new patients and nearest schools are at capacity.

Travel: site is on High Risk route with more than 12 serious accidents in last 3 years. No bus stop on Fosse Way and providing one would be dangerous. Fosse Way already busy and dangerous, especially with increased Jaguar/Land Rover traffic. No path or pavement and cycling is dangerous. Not appropriate for children to wait on busy road for school transport.

Rural Environment: Site has no mains gas, sewerage or drainage. Could damage wildlife habitat.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

Closing an established business and the 'knock-on effect' locally will remove jobs, including temporary jobs suitable for members of the traveller community. The Warwickshire Exhibition Centre's expansion would bring valuable visitor revenue to the Warwick/Kenilworth/Leamington triangle. The closure/threat of closure of other exhibition space means this facility's continuation is essential.

The Fosse Way has a 60 mph speed limit and is a high risk travel route with high traffic volumes, particularly at peak times. Adding significant additional traffic and pedestrian movements (especially young children) seems to be illogical and irresponsible, particularly when more family-friendly options are available.

There are no local amenities (no shops, schools, doctors surgeries, recreational facilities or any other form of entertainment) within easy walking distance, resulting in significant environmental impact from more car journeys. Existing schools and medical facilities are generally overloaded, increasing the inconvenience and travelling for the site occupants.

Using local rate-payers' money to close down a thriving local business for a scheme with hitherto unfounded benefits is unconscionable and defies description.

As residents of Harbury for 37 years, strongly opposed to this ill-thought out proposal.

Would serve to make the significant build-up of traffic on the Fosse Way in recent times considerably worse.

An influx of traveller children would put a considerable strain on resources, unjustifiably adversely affecting the village children.

The Harbury Doctors surgery is always under strain. This would significantly increase the pressure to maintain services.

The vast majority of people who have worked hard and paid their taxes for many years, bitterly and justifiably resent these people, who do not pay their dues, turning up and expecting special attention.

The proposal would cause considerable bitterness.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

Would place pressure on Radford Semele primary school with existing class sizes in excess of 30 and other local services including pre-school and doctors' surgery; 110 houses due to be built will add pressure. Surgery has no capacity for new patients.
Concerned at impact on local economy; wrong time to threaten one of largest employers. Exhibition Centre will have to close with loss of 40 jobs as well as indirect others and impact on local economy. Business has future potential for region.
Impact on rural environment; high visual impact on route to Leamington and Warwick- could not be softened by hedges.
High Risk Travel Route with high volumes of traffic and safety issues. No footways make walking unsuitable with speed of traffic. Little alternative as poor transport links; bus stop on overgrown verge with no footway.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

The closure of the Warwickshire Exhibition Centre would be a considerable loss to the community.

A Gypsy and Traveller Site in this position in an attractive valley would have an adverse affect on the rural environment.

The adjacent roads, Fosse Way and the A 425, are extremely busy through routes with heavy traffic and no pavements for pedestrians and so potentially dangerous position for families with young children.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

As Fosse Alpaca and Kune Kune Pigs owners (with valuable animals) extremely conscious of bio-security and need to protect from diseases such as foot and mouth, bTB and parvo virus which can be spread by human trespass and rogue animals. Proximity of proposed site exposes farm to uncontrolled access by unvaccinated dogs and cats and human trespass from possible contaminated sources. Abortions caused by the stress of trespass will incur financial loss and considerable distress.

The site may be used for commercial activity which cannot be integrated into the local landscape which is of an agricultural and rural nature with long established farming operations.

Site would have a major negative impact upon the financial security of Warwickshire Exhibition Centre and the valuable income it produces for the local community/economy.

Nearest GP surgery is full and nearest alternative is 5 miles away so site will place undue pressure on the local infrastructure and services.

No safe access to public transport. Bus-stop adjacent to B425 is buried in the grass verge with no proper safe hard-standing or shelter. The B425 and Fosse Way are fast main through routes and hazardous for pedestrians and motorists.

Objects to GT02 on the following grounds:
*There are no schools within walking distance.
*The only bus stop, is on a busy road, and the existing buses using it cause traffic congestion on the Fosse Way, a road already the scene of many traffic accidents.
*Turning into and away from the site will cause delays and queues on nearby roads.
*Local GP surgeries appear to be working at capacity.
*Development of the site would spoil local tourism.
*The site is adjacent to an ancient woodland already under threat by the proposed HS2.
*The exhibition centre contributes to the local economy.
