It is crucial that Warwick District Council finally delivers on its legal obligation to provide gypsy, traveller and travelling show people sites.

The site of Warwick Car Boot off Banbury Rd, Warwick CV34 6SS was considered as a site in the previous 2017 local plan. https://southwarwickshire.oc2.uk/cy/document/41/1807#d1812
At the time it was said it would be opened by 2019 as a touring caravan site. However it remains unused, except in the summer as a car boot site. This site should be revisited as a possible site for Gypsies, Travellers, and Travelling Showpeople

Agree but the District Council should not charge people to be on the self build register unless the District Council provides a specific service for this charge.

Bishop’s Tachbrook should be excluded from unallocated development adjacent to its BUAB due to conflicts with its Neighbourhood Plan, infrastructure constraints and risks of coalescence with Warwick and Whitnash. The B4100 and M40 J13 are already congested, and further development would worsen safety concerns. The area lacks the services needed for sustainable growth, leading to car dependency. Housing needs are already met through Strategic Growth Areas. The SWLP should protect settlement identity by designating the Country Park's south bank as a green buffer and ensuring infrastructure investment precedes development, in line with NPPF sustainability principles and a plan-led approach.

Do you agree with the approach laid out in Draft Policy Direction 6- Safeguarding land for transport proposals?
ID sylw: 101874
Derbyniwyd: 07/03/2025
Ymatebydd: Bishop's Tachbrook Parish Council
The plan fails to provide necessary infrastructure improvements for M40 Junctions 15, 14, and 13, or to address congestion along Europa Way if further housing is developed to the south. The B4100 between Europa Way and Junction 13 functions as a key transport corridor, with unsafe T-junctions at Harbury Lane and Oakley Wood Road. Further development will worsen congestion and safety risks. Additionally, consultees cannot comment on infrastructure funding, undermining the consultation process. Capital investment in infrastructure must precede housing development to ensure viability, as past issues with Europa Way demonstrate the consequences of inadequate planning.

Bishop’s Tachbrook has a registered garden, Mallory Court. This is a particularly intact example of an early 20th century garden influenced by the Arts and Crafts movement.
It is worth noting that SG11, if fully developed. would surround Mallory Garden and would therefore be in breach of this suggested policy

Do you agree with the approach laid out in Draft Policy Direction-49- Agricultural Land?

Bishop’s Tachbrook’s high-quality farmland must be protected. The land in SG09, SG10, SG11, X1, and X2 is vital for food production and sustainability. National policy prioritises lower-quality land for development, yet much of this area is among the best for growing food. If reassessments later reveal higher quality, development could cause irreversible damage by destroying valuable, irreplaceable soil. With rising costs making homegrown food increasingly important, safeguarding this land is essential. Residents must act now to ensure its protection for future generations and prevent the loss of a critical local resource.
