*Transport infrastructure appears to trump all other infrastructure types which are just as, if not more important, to ensuring quality of life.
*The pattern of development is over-reliant on strategic level growth requiring large-scale infrastructure projects. *Development to the east of Station Lane, Kingswood can be achieved in the short term without reliance on strategic transport improvements.
*Through reference to Figure 9 the suggestion is that there is too high a focus given to transport considerations in the emerging plan and that this might unduly constrain economic growth.

This policy direction implies that transport infrastructure trumps all other infrastructure types with other types of infrastructure dealt with as after-thoughts.
If the pattern of development is over-reliant on strategic level growth that requires too many large-scale infrastructure projects to deliver it, then the scale of growth might be constrained.
Decisions on major investment locations seem to have been taken outside the key public transport corridors whereas a different approach appears to apply in relation to housing and smaller scale employment proposals. This suggests there is too high a focus given to transport considerations in the emerging plan.

I do not agree with safeguarding land for road enhancements other than limited areas for safety improvements and small feeder roads. Upgrading trunk roads would be counter to the sustainable strategic objectives of the SWLP.
Safeguarding land for improving rail and construction of cycle routes would better support the sustainable strategic objectives of the SWLP.

The proposed infrastructure once again fails to look at requirements outside the wider Stratford on Avon area. There is already daily congestion on the A435 between Studley and Alcester, yet the Alcester plan includes enough houses to double it in size. Almost all roads in and around Alcester are single lane yet there's no plan to widen any of them. Getting from Alcester to Stratford at peak times always results in congestion and delays, yet the proposals don't go any further than Wildmoor.

Please take into consideration this proposed developments will have on the road B4087. This is already a rat-run to the M40 and is incredibly dangerous.

Using land for a Stratford to Honeybourne railway doesn't make sense due to:
* Tranquillity - Loss of a sustainable place free from traffic and noise to exercise, walk, run, cycle and walk the dog.
* Cost - £200m+ is absurd.
* Travel - People in rural South Warwickshire such as Long Marston and Honeybourne know of transport arrangements. Stratford to Warwick is already linked and it is once an hour and takes 30 minutes. Having this setup for Stratford to Honeybourne will not see people moving from their current arrangements of cycling along the Greenway or using bus services.

No need for railway line or station at long marston to honeybourne and therefore won’t be financially viable. This was closed in the past. Stratford needs a bypass to avoid Clopton Bridge. Greenway is well used and should be expanded for wildlife. Only road infrastructure needs to be improved, not rail.

Rail must be favoured over roads.
The Sactra report must be noted - the more roads you build, the more traffic there will be - the induced use principal.

SG20 - any development around The Graftons would impact on an already overburdened road network system that is frequently subject to road accidents and incidents. There is a dangerous risk when negotiating crossing over the A46 from the Graftons as there are no roundabouts or traffic light systems in place to assist when crossing traffic on this fast and congested road. Safeguards to protect the transport safety should be identified to meet these needs.

Some proposals are welcomed such as the preservation of land formerly forming the Honeybourne rail link, and other measures to facilitate public transport. However, the vast majority of the proposals will only increase the use of private transport and not enough is being actively done to increase the ease of access to, interconnection of, desirability and affordability of public transport.

Additional land to be taken up to relieve existing traffic congestion, and further congestion. Therefore, more countryside to be removed as well for the residential areas.

infrastructure development should always take into account wildlife and wildlife corridors - HS2 is a blatant example of how this doesn't happen on a large scale, I have no faith this will happen here we will end up with no open countryside, it will all be sacrificed to development

Employment generating development at Claybank Farm can be achieved in the short term without major improvements to the transport network.
There is too high a focus given to transport considerations in the emerging plan and that this might unduly constrain economic growth.

I partially agree with Draft Policy Direction 6 but have concerns about clarity and prioritisation. The policy identifies multiple transport schemes but does not clearly prioritise essential projects. Rail infrastructure and public transport improvements must be prioritised over road expansion to support sustainable development. Additionally, there is no clear commitment to funding or delivery timelines, raising concerns that safeguarded transport schemes may not be implemented before major development occurs. Without guaranteed investment and clear phasing, development risks outpacing necessary transport improvements. The policy must secure funding, set clear priorities, and ensure transport infrastructure is delivered before expansion.

The Plan should safeguard land for proposed transport infrastructure, however it should also be clear as to how the infrastructure is to be funded and delivered, and how it is to support planned growth within the Plan (i.e. which developments will benefit from the infrastructure and therefore need to contribute to its delivery).

The SW relief road, postulated alongside the present approved development of Long Marston Airfield, has still not materialised, with spiralling costs and no adequate contribution having been secured from the developer. This means that there is no additional transport infrastructure to underpin the sustainability of the site. Furthermore, there is absolutely no indication as to when, if ever, the Stratford to Honeybourne railway line will be re-opened. Until it does, it seems inappropriate to place any reliance on its underpinning any additional transport infrastructure to lessen the need for new residents to use their cars for transportation.
