The site is wholly unsuited for development of this size and density due to the lack of infrastructure, amenities, limitations to utilities services provision, and the land’s contribution to the green belt. In addition, a development of this size and density would be completely out of keeping with the existing village and area. Given the suitability of various other proposed settlements under the measures assessed within the local plan process, I am of the view that alternative sites provide significantly more appropriate and realistic options for consideration of a new settlement.

Tanworth in Arden is unsuitable for development due to its undulating terrain and green belt landscape. The infrastructure is limited, with few utilities and standalone services. Wood End Station offers just one train per hour to Birmingham and Stratford, which is inadequate for a large settlement. The area has many listed buildings and a nearby Conservation Area. The road network comprises narrow lanes that flood and would require significant upgrades, harming wildlife habitats.

A2 at Wood End is excessive in size and will ruin the character of the rural area, and encourage dormitory suburbs.
Hamlet Way CV370AL has 140 dwellings in 0.86ha: this density could achieve 8000 dwellings in 50 hectares including roads and open spaces.
Such huge swathes as A2 are not needed to house 20-40 year olds in their early career, but those are the people who most need housing. Low rise flats and maisonettes can look like houses. Please build them into rural villages.

This site is significantly better than the BW site, as it lacks heritage constraints and does not contribute to the same level of urban sprawl.

At over 700 acres this is a gross over development of a rural area with limited infrastructure and lying within the Green Belt. It is over two and a half times the size of nearby Dickens Heath and either on its own or combined with A1 would decimate an essential rural area.

Agree this is a less suitable option as this is a rural location within the Green Belt. The option contains Cleveland Coppice LWS (Local Wildlife Site) and Browns Green Wood potential LWS and Shakespeare Line Railway pLWS and brooks in the River Alne catchment area, the Rive Alne is an LWS.

Site 515 lies immediately to the south and could be easily incorporated into A2. This is a logical area for a new settlement. This wider area has no known constraints. There are bus services and railway stations. Its proximity to Tanworth in Arden will help support services. It is also close to the conurbation with easy access to the motorway.
The constraint to further development in the area occasioned by the fact that Tanworth in Arden Primary School currently has no opportunity for expansion, raises the possibility that Site 515 could be used to facilitate its expansion to support A2.

This development will likely require treatment at Redditch - Spernal (STW) Treatment Works, this Wastewater Treatment Works has low capacity constraints and high environmental constraints. There are network constraints as the distance to the nearest WWTW with available capacity is 3km, therefore significant infrastructure upgrades are required and there are significant costs associated with this. Overall this development site is considered a high risk location.

Whilst supported by a station at Wood End, the service is not sufficient to support commuting. Hence, the proposed development would place a significant strain on local roads and likely to create added use of rural local roads as rat runs at busy times. There is minimal infrastructure in Wood End so large numbers of journeys would result as residents travelled to other areas for shopping etc. There would be a loss of farming land with no alternative plans for the provision of alternative food supplies.

By prioritising sustainable, non-Green Belt sites, housing can be delivered responsibly—without destroying the countryside, harming biodiversity, or overwhelming local services.

A2 north of Tanworth-in-Arden (Wood End): A new settlement here would be wholly out of character with the wooded Arden landscape. The land is all Green Belt and has strong biodiversity, and recreational value. It is not a sustainable location. It would require much infrastructure and generate traffic on rural roads. Tanworth-in-Arden is a conservation village whose setting has been protected through Green Belt and Conservation Area status for many years. The valley northeast of Tanworth is a particularly attractive landscape and the best approach to the village, along the Umberslade to Tanworth avenue. Location A2 should not be pursued.

The development of a proposed new settlement here or anywhere near the Parish of Tanworth in Arden is totally not what our remaining historic villages should ever succumb to. There is absolutely no justification to ruin parts of England that are unspoilt. There are many areas with unoccupied housing stock that would be far more suitable. We have to keep our countryside for future generations and control how many people can live in this lovely country. Please leave the villages and countryside alone.

The area is green belt. This proposed development will destroy the village and will not enhance or reflect the local character of the village.
The proposed development will destroy the rich natural habitat for numerous species including Heron, hares, deer, butterflies
The development will mean that the area will be houses etc from the centre of Birmingham to Henley in Arden. The roads especially the M42 is constantly at a standstill and the smaller roads reflect the increase car usage since the house around Blythe Valley were built.
This development would destroy ancient wood land and pasture.

As this development includes woodland areas and is on green belt land, we would not support this site as a priority for development, unless there were significant steps taken to avoid or mitigate any loss of biodiversity and carbon sequestration/climate change mitigation.
This site does not have close access to an existing community healthcare property and will therefore require more significant infrastructure investment to support sufficient provision of out of hospital services for any significant size of development.

Strong Objection:
I cannot see any need/requirement/grounds for the 5 potential new settlements in the green belt of A1, A2, C1, B1 and BW. I am opposed to all 5 on due the need for environmental protection, lack of sustainable development and lack of infrastructure.

Plot A2 in proposed housing developments
I have been reviewing the recent housing proposals and can see plot A2 is being considered. This goes right through the River Alne so I'm just interested in seeing how this will affect the river further down stream in Henley. We live in Henley and our property has flooded twice in the past 6 months due to the Alne. We would of course be opposed to any proposals which would affect the natural saturation of water up stream as this would increase the risk of further flooding.

A2 because of the connections available to the M40/M42 motorways and the existing railway station at Wood End which could be upgraded. The location would also be convenient for residents to commute to either Birmingham and Solihull for employment.

Proposed new town site A2 appear to be in the green belt. If so, it would be a gross error to include them as sites for urban development.
