Strategic Growth Location SG10 Question

ID sylw: 108874

Derbyniwyd: 07/03/2025

Ymatebydd: Warwickshire County Council

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

Minerals and Waste

No objections on mineral sterilisation grounds subject to prior extraction of sand and gravel and subject to
• Minerals Assessment Report (for assessing the possible impact on mineral resources and determining whether prior extraction is achievable),
• Materials Management Report (for assessing the sourcing and use of construction materials including the availability of on-site materials for reuse/recycling),
• Soil Management Plan (a plan to manage all soils on site during construction)

Highways / Transport

There will be a need for detailed modelling to take place once there is an idea of numbers and more specific locations. The County Council will continue to work with the South Warwickshire Local Plan Team as thinking progresses.

Public transport availability can be assessed once further information is available about numbers and location.

Education

Unless development was of a size to warrant new provision it is difficult to see how growth in this area could be catered for.

No capacity at Primary or Secondary Phases.

This is not a good location from an education perspective.

No objections on mineral sterilisation grounds subject to the exclusion of all the land to the east and south of the Town and subject to
• Minerals Assessment Report (for assessing the possible impact on mineral resources and determining whether prior extraction is achievable),
• Minerals Site/Infrastructure Assessment (for assessing the possible impact on existing sites and infrastructure),
• Materials Management Report (for assessing the sourcing and use of construction materials including the availability of on-site materials for reuse/recycling),
• Waste Site Assessment (for assessing the extent to which an existing waste site/use/operation would be prejudiced),
• Site Waste Management Plan (a plan for reusing/recycling waste on site and avoiding off-site disposal to landfill),

Highways / Transport

Public transport availability can be assessed once further information is available about numbers and location.

Education

Unless development was of a size to warrant new provision it is difficult to see how growth or more than perhaps 200 homes in this area could be catered for.

Primary Education

Limited capacity available locally.
Could consider the delivery of a new primary school if the size of proposed development warranted it.

Secondary Education

There is limited scope for expansion at Southam College. The location on Welsh Road West means that access is already challenging.

We are aware that the Stowe Valley Trust are happy to talk about options, possible standalone sixth form for example, but this does then impose significant financial pressures on the school.

Possible links to proposed new settlements at Ufton, Deppers Bridge or Knightcote could see changes to priority areas and this could possibly free up space at Southam College.

Possible link to Upper Lighthorne?
Access the relocated Lighthorne Heath Primary School.
Need to consider connectivity – safe walking route or home to school transport implications.

Secondary Education

No local capacity.
Kineton will already have to be expanded to cope with the existing planned growth.
Need to consider in line with new settlements or growth South of Stratford / Wellesbourne.
Possible new provision.
