1. Support, in principle, the proposed road and rail projects, their successful implementation depends on a robust and fully costed delivery plan that prioritizes local needs and mitigates potential negative impacts.
2. Relief road projects, require thorough evaluation to ensure they provide long-term congestion relief without exacerbating environmental and community impacts.
3. A fully costed and transparent delivery plan, including clear timelines, funding sources, and impact assessments, is crucial to ensuring these infrastructure projects deliver real benefits for Stratford-on-Avon District and the wider county.

Yes I do agree but for the scale of developments proposed the safeguarding of land for transport proposals falls a long way of short of what will be needed.

The Preferred Option, Transport Context Figure 9 is acceptable as it identifies the best connectivity and development areas are to the south of the A46. Developing the old railway line into Stratford upon Avon via Long Marston being the perfect solution and opportunity to help the Long Marston area develop an individual identity without increasing the traffic volumes into Stratford upon Avon.

The proposals to improve transport south of A46 is a viable option and would keep road traffic away from an already stressed road system in Stratford upon avon town centre.

The Stratford transport proposals are based on unsustainable growth in motor traffic. You cannot have all this and describe the plan as "Sustainable". The Park & Ride schemes are unlikely to be attractive without restraint on car use and parking. There are no policies to deliver such restraint. Where are the protected bus priority corridors or cycle routes? P&R has the potential to protect the urban area but encourages car use between centres. The plan should be diverting trips to less damaging modes, or reducing the need to travel.

Agree in principle but the policy lacks any directive to tie in funding of infrastructure / transport and the payment of. Cannot just be absorbed by local district. This is a common failure continually when developments take place. Policy is weak.

Portabello crossroads is traffic light controlled but needs speed/traffic light cameras as drivers frequently misuse the junction.
The Darlingscott Crossroads is currently dangerous and needs lights or a traffic island, further into Shipston on the Darlingscott Road the speed limit is too high as there is an industrial estate and a school.
Another river crossing into Stratford is needed and could possibly be provided by a tram/light rail on the Greenway.

Great that the railway line is to be protected.
Railways, trams and cycle paths are the way forward. Improvement on bus service too.
I do not agree that building more roads will bring relief - it will bring more traffic and have a detrimental effect on the environment for future generations. This has been seen to be the case over and over.

Transport arrangements do need improvement and the emphasis should be on public transport not more use of private cars which already choke towns. Private transport by bicycle and e-bike should be encouraged in built-up areas by the provision of cycle lanes and traffic calming. Any new settlements should include these from inception. Rural roads are narrow and dangerous to use on cycles at present. Also the number of potholes and the lack of timely repair is a risk.

It is a waste of time and resources safeguarding the land along the Stratford Greenway for possible future use as a railway from Honeybourne, past Long Marston to Stratford, then across town via Severn Meadows Road and Summerton Way, to Stratford Town Station. The proposal will never be economically viable, and safeguarding just creates confusion and uncertainty. The Greenway should be kept as a multi-use recreational facility, green space and wildlife haven for the benefit of locals, visitors and future generations. It cannot be effectively shared with a reinstated railway, which would cause major traffic problems and damage the environment.

The Stratford area has far too little green space and most routes people can walk are too short, noisy, crowded and polluted. Wheelchair access is usually very restricted. The Greenway is essential for mental and physical health and the environment, and the benefits it brings should be replicated in similar schemes elsewhere - it should not be destroyed. It is the only easily accessed walk of any length and beauty to recommend to visitors to the town. We wish to be regarded as place to visit of global importance and environmental excellence. Without the Greenway we will never achieve that.

Safeguarding the land of Stratford Greenway, land via Severn Meadows Road and Summerton Way to Stratford Town Station for possible future use as a rail link between Honeybourne and Stratford is a waste of time and resources. Reopening the line will never be economically viable. The Greenway should remain as a multi use recreational facility, wildlife haven and green space for locals and visitors alike and preserved for future generations. The area cannot effectively be shared with a reinstated railway which would cause major traffic problems, noise and air pollution and significant damage to the overall environment.

Ref: Site BW - improvements to the A3400 will require land purchases along the route between A46 (Bishopton) and Henley but also has a 'low railway' bridge of single carriageway width, an ornamental bridge over the weir at Wootton Wawen, and aqua duct of single carriageway width at Wooton and several properties located adjacent to the current roadside. Traffic will still arrive at the pinch points of Birmingham Road SuA and Henley high street regardless. Local narrow country roads would naturally become the short cut routes and impact villages and local road users, horses, walkers, cyclists, runners, etc

Amendments to existing roads do not support proposals for making further developments net zero. The proposals are short sighted and insufficiently innovative, continuing to reinforce reliance on cars. This will continue to kill the population, whether directly through trauma or indirectly via noise, pollution and stress. This will continue to place additional unnecessary burden on both the NHS and public health policy.

The preferred approach is to carry forward existing safeguarding measures identified in the adopted Local Plans for schemes that have not yet been implemented or completed. This includes a new crossing of the canal at Western Road to Birmingham Road, Stratford-upon-Avon and creation of a new route between the A3400 and the A422. Any bridge crossing the canal will require the prior consent of the Canal & River Trust in the form of a commercial agreement and this should be factored into any such scheme. We recommend early contact with the Trust to discuss this should it be taken forward.
