I do not agree with the proposal to build houses within the Sandy Lane / Old Milverton Road area. This is an area that's heavily used by local people and offers an easy escape to a lovely area for runners, walkers and dog walkers.

The proposal to build more houses in SG06 runs counter to Green Belt policy to the north of the town. This land (especially the western zone) is essential for the health and well-being of local inhabitants who make daily use of it for leisure and recreation. Moreover, transport infrastructure cannot handle yet more traffic north of the town to Coventry. There are major bottlenecks already at the Rugby Road/Old Milverton Road junction. Further, it risks destroying the land which separates the distinctive identities of Leamington, Kenilworth and Old Milverton.

There is no infrastructure to support further development in North Leamington. Greenbelt land should not be considered at all, particularly when Coventry city centre is all but derelict.

There is a need for housing of the older population within Leamington town centre - apartments, small dwellings. This would release larger housing for families.
The green belt to the north of the town would be better used to help the environment - planting trees and wildlife habitat
The infrastructure is not suitable for additional housing on the green belt area.

Thousands of people each year walk up or down Northumberland Road, turn left into Bamburgh Road and walk across the fields. They either turn left into Guy's Cliffe Avenue or carry on walking towards the Saxon Mill. If this area were to be developed, the walk from Northumberland Road would disappear. This is surely not sensible at a time when we are all being encouraged to walk and when there are alternative areas where housing could be developed? How would the traffic be dispersed? It would have to go into Rugby Road or Kenilworth Road which is already too busy.

New housing needs can be met without building on green belt land.
SG06 is NOT a sustainable location - it would not be a ‘20 minute’ neighbourhood.
The green belt around North Leamington meets the stated purposes of green belt land.
The green belt review of 2024 is flawed.
The farmland is high quality agricultural land contributing to sustainability and a secure food supply.
In 2017 the same proposals were rejected by the planning inspector.
SG06 is an area that meets the needs of being healthy, safe and inclusive, and biodiverse and environmentally resilient.

SG06 fulfils one of the purposes of green belt land by preventing the neighbouring towns from merging and hence losing their individual character. This is a significant amenity to me . How many places in the UK offer such diversity of towns in such close proximity?
Healthy safe and inclusive: SG06 (particularly the parcel near Old Milverton hamlet) contributes to my and my neighbours health and enjoyment of living in Leamington. We are able to walk and enjoy nature without needing to use a car. I can vary my walks, whilst the farmer uses the land to produce food.

Whilst agreeing with the requirement for new housing over the period, in considering sites for adoption into the South Warwickshire Local Plan 2025-2050, I object to the release of the Greenbelt adjacent to North Leamington site SG06 and specifically LS02 as it fails to meet the following requirements.
• Conditions to build on the Green Belt
• Sustainable neighborhood criteria.

I consider that the conditions to build on the green belt at LS02 and LS03 have not been met.
• it would have a significant adverse impact on the openness of the area and character and appearance of the area
• It provided a valuable green lung to the access other areas of rural Warwickshire
• It prevents the coalescence of Milverton into Leamington Spa.
• The area provides valuable arable farmland which contribute to food security
There is no sustainable merit in adopting land north of Leamington SG06 LS02/LS03 as it does not provide a clear sustainable neighborhood opportunity.

SG06 is greenbelt/ no exceptional circumstances justifying development
SWLP shows sufficient housing land identified without building on SG06
SG06 is ALC Grade 2 farmland/2024 barley crop vital to food security/employment/net zero
The parcel of land at Blackdown contributes greatly to the openness of the greenbelt: crossed by popular public footpath, accessible on foot to built up area of Leamington/ wonderful views across to St Mary's/ well defined edge of Leicester Lane from which the view was commended by council's joint study as "a prime example of Arden character parkland".
Would exacerbate the damage nearby HS2 has already caused to biodiversity/greenbelt

In order to provide the required number of dwellings, it is not necessary to consider using greenbelt land of the quality of SG06. There is sufficient lower quality land, on which to build the necessary dwellings. SG06 is greenbelt of the highest quality in this area and should be preserved as such.

It will be building on green belt, merging the separate towns and villages of Lillington, Leamington, Kenilworth Ashow. It will increase traffic on the already busy roads into Leamington. Already constricted by the small number of bridges over the River Leam and under the railway. We do not want to build roads across Newbold Comyn to alleviate North south Traffic! The south is where people go for the weekly shop. The number and location of access points to the site would be a great concern to local traffic. Local traffic would impact safety on two local schools.

South Warwickshire's local housing need can be met without the need to build on the green belt.
Strategic growth locations not in the green belt have more than the capacity to provide the needed number of new homes.
The biodiversity of the area will be hugely negatively impacted by destruction of the green belt.

The land in SG06 is Green Belt Land and valuable high quality agricultural land. As the number of dwellings required to meet housing needs of South Warwickshire can be met without building on green belt land, there are no exceptional circumstances to justify development in this area.
Development of SG06 would undermine key principles of the local plan:
-it is not sustainable
-it would negatively impact the health of the local population and the ability to achieve a biodiverse and environmentally resilient South Warwickshire.
HS2 has destroyed high amounts of countryside, we need to protect the remaining green belt.

Green belt is necessary to prevent urban areas merging. The green belt should only be given up on an as needed basis. A 25 year local plan is too long to accurately predict needs and what land will become available in that period.
This land includes footpaths providing important access to rural environments for recreation.
If we have reached the point where we have no option but to build on green belt, then we should stop low density housing development in the area and encourage the development of, for example, town houses, a housing style for which Leamington is famous.

This development north of Leamington will add to urban sprawl by leading towards the merger of Leamington/Warwick with Kenilworth/Coventry. This is especially the case given that housing development is already taking place south and east of Kenilworth. Leamington/Warwick have a separate and distinct identity at present which will be lost if they become another suburb of Coventry. The development will also cause a significant loss of Green Belt land and rural footpaths close to the river Avon which are an important wildlife habitat and local amenity at present, easily accessible to residents of north Leamington.

No I do not. Feel this is closing an already small gap between urban spaces and if this was developed would encourage even more development to fill in the rest. People need green space to access and just to see open land that does not require them to get in a car and drive first.

This is high grade greenbelt land used by farmer for food production. The houses here will not be a 10 minute neighbour as the main supermarkets, train station and motorways are to the south of Leamington with residents having to use their cars.

New housing should not be built on green belt land north of Leamington Spa to protect the environment, prevent urban sprawl, and preserve valuable agricultural land. Alternative non-green belt sites are available to meet housing needs without harming natural spaces. Development here would worsen road congestion and strain local infrastructure, especially as the area lacks adequate transport links, increasing car dependency and environmental impact.

There will be a significant negative impact on existing residents
The Green belt continues to fulfill the stated purpose of Green Belt land
The Green Belt review carried out by engineers (Arup) is fundamentally flawed. They were also not qualified to carry out the review.
Farmland is high quality agricultural farmland
This has already been rejected by the Planning Inspector in 2017

The SWLP Plan has capacity for enough homes without building on green belt land.
It is not lawful to build on green belt land if capacity can be met elsewhere.
SG06 is not a ‘sustainable location’. It is a 30 minute walk to Leamington train station from the closest point and a one hour walk from the furthest.
The public footpaths are used and enjoyed by thousands of local residents and visitors.
The area provides habitat for wildlife and plant species as per my comments
