No infrastructure or provision for extra traffic in Stratford which is already chaotic.
I value the green belt and feel strongly that there has been enough expansion already.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

This would only be a small new settlement, unlikely to benefit from advantages of new settlements, such as a vibrant community with sufficient employment. Close to Stratford, it will become a dormitory town, empty during the day, with little life in the evening.
It has a rail station which has limited connectivity unless the Bearly to Hatton rail line is doubled. Other transport connectivity will rely on road traffic which will further impact Stratford.
Employment will inevitably be primarily elsewhere, and access to the SuA2 site mentioned in the documents will just add traffic to the already busy A46.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

The farmland from the railway up to Pathlow contains Brown Hares which are Protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act, 1981 also Priority Species in UK Post-2010 Biodiversity Framework. The area has barns where various species of protected bats are found that feed in the surrounding farmland. Barn Owl, a protected species are found here. Flooding will be caused by the development. Local drainage and low railway bridges already flood regularly. Traffic chaos during and after completion. 15k or more extra cars on roads already not coping. Golden Cross crossroads very dangerous already no footpath on Salters for children.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

Unjustifiably uses Green Belt land when other sites do not. Site divided by already dangerous A3400. Road network (Trunk roads, "A" roads, minor roads) inadequate to support extra traffic generated. Bearley Halt has no access to Birmingham/Stratford line. Exacerbation of existing flood issues in area. Additional strain on sewerage system already at capacity. Will overwhelm existing facilities and amenities. Impact on acknowledged biodiversity of area, rare species and SSSI's. No access to sites in and adjacent Bearley. Impact on Bearley conservation area and internationally significant Mary Arden's house. Insufficient local employment necessitating commuting over distance. Rural area becomes a suburb.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

An absolutely inappropriate proposal that should not be given light of day.

An unnecessary development on green belt land which will damage biodiversity and destroy habitats and wildlife corridors.

There is no infrastructure to support this size of development.

The A3400 is already horrendously busy and a dangerously fast road. Any accident or road works here will cause even more gridlock in unspoilt nearby villages.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

We are concerned about the plan to develop Wilmcote.
There is already considerable traffic on the Birmingham Road and A46, with huge tailbacks. There have been multiple fatalities on the A46 and, despite petitions to improve the roads safety, nothing has been done. To add 13,000+ cars to this would be disastrous.

We are also worried about the flood risk this development poses. Rainfall already brings flooding to the Billesley Road. Concreting over the Green Belt, and removing woodlands, will only increase this risk.

Finally, Stratford does not have the infrastructure to cope with the increased need for services.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

i strongly oppose the proposed development due to the totally inadequate road infrastructure to support it nor is it likely to modify the A46 at a cost exceeding £250m and not possible to upgrade the A3400 with its choke points at many places though villages such as Wootton and Henley and beyond. Most journeys will be by car to major employment areas like Warwick, Leamington, Coventry and Warwick parkway. Speeding commuter rat-runs will inevitably be created through the villages and country lanes as a consequence. Well documented flooding will be exacerbated. An urban sprawl and ribbon development will be created.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

The land proposed at Wilmcote and Bearley is mostly flat and open, meaning that it does not offer a lot of shelter for animals. The proximity of 2 railway stations can also not be overlooked, and would help to bolster Wilmcotes links to other villages in the area. The proximity to the main Birmingham Road makes it a great option for accessibility.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

The package of land behind St Mary's Acre is inappropriate for development. The new properties would overlook existing property on St Mary's Acre and the very narrow access via Church Lane is unsafe for pedestrians, dog walkers and wildlife. Also the Bishopton A46 roundabout would be unable to cope during morning and evening commuting hours.

1) Objections to the individual land parcels of Bearley/Wilmcote
Flooding, access, SSSI

2) Destruction of Green Belt
Contrary to NPPF

3) Safety crossing the A3400
Need to cross fast, busy road to access schools, GP surgery, shops

4) Inadequate capacity of A3400
Bottlenecks at Bishopton roundabout and Henley-in Arden

5) Inadequate rail service and safety hazards when accessing the station
Little direct rail to Birmingham, single track line, no more capacity, hazardous access to station

6) Contrary to Bearley Neighbourhood Development Plan
Disregards many policies of the Bearley NDP

7) Why Bearley/Wilmcote?

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

A new town of 6,700 houses with probably 10,000 cars and supporting services will ruin this rural neighbourhood - the area will be changed out of all recognition and for the worse. I am unable to see how the proposal fits into "a well-designed and beautiful South Warwickshire". Flooding and traffic congestion are already severe problems in the local area. The loss of green belt land, biodiversity , protected trees, woodland, meadows and hedges would be enormous and these features would be lost forever.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

This site is completely unsuitable:
Land around it can flood
Unsuitable and infrequent rail connections
A surrounding road network which would result in congestion and would be difficult and expensive to remodel
Inadequate opportunity for active transport eg cycling
Totally in the Green Belt
It would be situated on productive agricultural land which also provides scenic beauty
It would have an adverse effect on the well established communities of Bearley and Wilmcote, each having its valued character which has developed over time

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

I oppose the new town development on this farmland, as it would negatively impact the entire Stratford / Warwick area. It would destroy green belt land, farmland, and natural habitats. The Birmingham Road and A3400 is already at capacity, and small country lanes would need significant upgrades, worsening congestion. This development would make the area more crowded, less desirable to live in, and increase pressure on local infrastructure. The knock-on effect would further exacerbate traffic and overcrowding in Stratford which is already overcrowded. Is the aim of the council to make Warwickshire an urban hellhole.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

The proposed building of 6700 homes across Wilmcote&Bearley is propstourus. These 2 villages will loose village statu& become 1 giant town!as only 10 minutes drive to the centre of Stratford we will get joined upto them. The A3400 is congested with traffic daily&the additional cars from 6700 new homes will gridlock the roads.Cars heading to the M40 have to travel through Henley in Arden& unless shops/houses&road bridges are knocked down, roads widened this is going to be a major situation.Maybird retail Park,Tesco petrol&supermarket gets gridlocked with the population in these areas already add people from 6700 homes utter madness.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

6700 homes planned for Bearley and Wilmcote is unrealistiic. our road infrastucture is totally inadequate for such a plan and massive influx of people and vehicles. Apart from the already struggling road and rail situation. The area already suffers flooding and our sewage system is at maximum capacity now. When Schools, Doctors, Police station and destruction of wildlife is added it is unrealistic. Our nearest A&E Hospital is Warwick which is already unable to cope (recently on TV news as having the longest queues for treatment in the UK) Stratford Hospital is for minor injuries only.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

I strongly object to the development of site BW as this site is within the West Midlands Green Belt where there is a general presumption against development. Para 145 to the NPPF provides that boundaries should only be altered where there are exceptional circumstances. The provisions of para 146 do not apply as a total of 8 sites have been identified that are not in the green belt and development would therefore be in breach of the NPPF. Furthermore, the Lepus sustainability report ranks this site as only 8th in terms of attractiveness.

Ymatebydd: Mrs Renata Astle-Lunt

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

A development of 6800 homes in Bearley so near to Stratford is unjustifiable and will be the catalyst of the creation of a large conurbation, irreversibly placing immense strain on Stratford and nearby villages, worsening already gridlocked traffic routes on the A34, causing pollution and overloading infrastructure. There will be significant loss of beautiful green belt land, destruction of biodiversity and wildlife corridors. Flooding is a concern due to loss of green space. The area of Stratford and Wilmcote is important for tourism, which will be negatively affected by loss of countryside and gridlocked traffic routes. Focus on sensitive planning.

Ymatebydd: Mr David Cooper

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

Both the environmental/biodiversity impact of this proposal is immense. The strain on the local road and rail infrastructure should rule this development out immediately. With no local centre of any size dependency on the car would increase for social, domestic and work purposes as would isolation for those without vehicles. There is only one main road that all this traffic could use with travel between Birmingham and Stratford becoming nightmarish. The potential for flooding with natural soakaways being built upon is inevitable. Without a change in the law to abolish the right to buy, affordable housing will inevitably be temporary.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

Keep Green Belt – believe developments at this scale should be outside of green belt land and rate highly on sustainability. Area scored 8/12 in ranking off all sites

Poor Transport– existing traffic concession in this area and flooding on roads from A3400 fields -

Safety – A3400 very dangerous road to cross by foot – there has also been a number of car accidents at the Bearley station

Impact on biodiversity loss of protected trees/woodlands/meadows, hedges and wildlife in the Bearley area.

Flooding on existing site – flooding danger to existing houses on at Rear of Grange Road

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

A new town near the busy A3400 puts lives at risk. The unnecessary developments on our green belt land destroy biodiversity. The increase in local population means more road traffic hence more carbon emissions. Our local farmland will be transformed into a sprawling urban mess means wildlife corridors will be lost and our local woodlands and meadows will be destroyed.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

New settlements have the space and land available for the larger housing developments required to meet the housing targets. With new settlements road and other infrastructure is incorporated as part of the build programme. this tends not to be the case for Strategic Growth areas that are already suffering from, in particular, major traffic problems.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

The land at Bearley and Wilmcote is truly green belt land and will result in the destruction of wildlife habitats. It means an 800% increase in the number of houses in the area; the local road network is not built for this level of traffic. For example the Bearley road as it comes into Snitterfield and past The Snitterfield Arms is narrow and has parked cars on the road effectively creating a single lane for traffic with reduced visibility around the corner. At current low traffic levels the problem is minimal but at higher traffic volumes it will become dangerous.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

Thos is green belt land and gives this area it's particular countryside quality of small villages surrounded by countryside. Brownfield sites should always be considered first to avoid urban sprawl and to protect the environment. This is part of a 'beautiful Warwickshire' that we should aim to protect.
